Acknowledgement

The researchers desire to give deepest gratitude and sincere appreciation to the people

that have made a significant contribution to our study and made it a success.

To our mentor and research adviser, Mrs. Maria Theresa E. Aquino, who guided and

supported us towards the success of this study. Gave us the wisdom and pushed us to go

beyond our limits, to strive and perform well in this field. Continuously sharing her knowledge

and molding us to better person and diligent student.

We would also like to extend our warmest thanks to Ms. Marilyn J. Gapasin, our

research co-adviser, who had been patient on checking our paper and for serving us to

conceive and style our research study.

We are also grateful to have our ever supportive family especially our parents, for

providing all our needs financially and morally and for their understanding during the conduct of

the study.

A special thanks to Mr. Bernabe B. De Guzman, the person behind the idea of this

study.

To our respondents who spared their time with us during the evaluation helped us gather

credible data. A special thanks also to the swine farm owner, Mrs. Noemi Antivola who gave us

permission to her swine farm to be the testing site of this study.

Above all, to our Almighty God, for the giving us the wisdom and perseverance to finish

this endeavor.

Abstract

Objectives: The main purpose of this study is to investigate the potency of Effective

Microorganisms (EM) through utilization of alternative agents to eliminate foul odor of swine

manures.

Methods: The researchers obtained data from experimentation, sample testing, and

intervention-evaluation. The researchers identified materials used in the experimentation and

one swine farm as testing site. In addition, the respondents as evaluators through convenience

sampling.

Results: From the results, it can be deduced that alternative EM solution can reduce the bad

odor of the swine manures. However, commercially prepared foul odor eliminator is more potent

than it as it can effectively eliminate the foul odors produced by the swine manures.

Conclusions: From the findings, it can be concluded that the potency of alternative EM solution

utilizing Ananas comosus, muscovado sugar, and yakult as foul odor eliminator was evident.

However, the use of these agents to create alternative EM solution did not totally eliminate the

foul odors. Nevertheless, it effectually reduced the foul odors of the swine manures.
