V – PRACTICAL QUESTIONS

1. When do you use a long nose plier?

I usually used long nose pliers when gripping or holding some
small objects. I used it also for cutting and bending wires and for
attaching wires.
2. If available, which do you think is better for removing wire insulation,
a wire stripper or skinning knife? Why?
For me, I prefer using wire stripper because it easy to use and less
consuming time unlike using skinning knife it is a slow process when
cutting and gripping wires.
3. What is the difference between a ball hammer and a mallet?
Their main differences is that mallets have only one head and are
commonly made of wood or rubber. Since a mallet is made of softer
material unlike the metallic hammer, it is used to hit something more
gently and not crush or dent the surface.
4. Having available with a socket wrench of correct sizes for a bolt and
an adjustable wrench, which do you prefer to use? Why?
I prefer to used adjustable wrench because it can work with
multiples sizes of nuts and bolts and besides it comes with movable
jaw that can be easily to use.
5. What is the purpose of a vacuum pump?
The purpose of vacuum pump is to generates a partial or low-
pressure vacuum by pushing gas or air molecules out of a sealed
chamber. A vacuum is a relative state at which the chamber pressure
has a lower pressure than the ambient atmosphere or adjacent
systems.
6. Having available with a hacksaw and a tube cutter, which do you
prefer to use for cutting a soft copper tube? Why?
I prefer to use a tube cutter for cutting a soft copper because it
produces a clean cut and it is often a faster, cleaner, and more
convenient tool to use in a way of cutting different tubes than using a
hacksaw.
7. Is it advisable to wear sandals while working in the shop? Why?
No, it is not advisable to wear sandals in the working place
because your toes might be harmed by the falling objects that is
heavier. Work place have so many heavy equipment that can cause
harm to you so it is advisable to use safety shoes in the place for us
to be safe.
8. When do you use a safety goggle?
We use a safety google when we are working with substances that
could potentially harm our eyes.
9. What is frostbite?
A Frostbite is an injury caused by freezing of the skin and
underlying tissues. In the earliest stage of frostbite, known as

frostnip, there is no permanent damage to skin. Symptoms include

cold skin and a prickling feeling, followed by numbness and inflamed
or discolored skin.
