“ONE STUDENT, ONE TREE POLICY”

I. INTRODUCTION
Our project proposal entitled “One student, one tree policy” as one plant to save
Baguio city will be implemented with the help of The Cordillera Green Network, Inc.
(CGN). An environmental Non-Government Organization that is based on Baguio City.
Established on the year 2001, aiming to help address the environmental and socio-
economic problems in the Cordillera Administrative Region. Their advocacies are; to
create income-generating activities to alleviate the economic condition of the people
and; to help mold home grown future leaders for the preservation of mother earth.
“Cafe Yagam” is a project that is supported by The Cordillera Green Network and it
had achieved being Top 9 Google Success Stories Search on the year 2017. Another
project supported by CGN is the Kapi Tako, a local producer of coffee beans in Baguio.
It means “let's have coffee” in Kankanaey dialect that is spoken in indigenous ethnic
groups in the Cordillera (Sitchon, 2017).

II. RATIONALE/BACKGROUND OF THE PROJECT

The one student, one tree policy encourages every student on having a connection
and involvement to nature. Due to the problems we face regarding climate change,
buildings built goes higher and higher as trees are cut down number by number. The
occurrence of sudden change of our weather day by day caused us major health
impacts such as heart attack. As temperature increases, drought and insect outbreaks
and so with the forest wildfires. Slowly, we see the effects brought by our actions. This
proposal ensures the balance of the nature and to reduce the drastic effects of climate
change on our environment. By involving the youth, taking care of our environment just
simply by planting trees specifically on places that are prone to natural disasters such as
landslides, floods, and sewers is a one step towards reducing the effect of climate
change.

III. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Tree planting activity is our approach to protect our environment. It is an
effective strategy to mitigate climate change as every single tree is essential to
combat global warming boom. Our project’s objective is to plant trees to bring
back the greenery of the mountain slopes. Part of our goal is to involve Students
specifically graduating senior high students requiring to join such activity to help
the environment reduce air pollution and reduce the drastic effects of climate
change. It helps the youth today to engage in these kinds of activities to
strengthen the bond between the students and the environment. It also aims to
