8.2.3.2 Preparatory work before concrete pouring please refer to table 1 page 5 to identify
this role?!!
❖ Site coordinator in QC department, who’s main responsibility is to inspect,

supervise, strengthen quality control in the concrete pouring process, and the

SINOMA 11 / 22
laboratory technician, the technician is in charge of checking the concrete

temperature before pouring, sampling, and crushing for the cubes (third party).

❖ Slump test will be conducted as per relevant local standard and adjusted according

to site needs and conditions

❖ The value of the slump is 12.5 ± 2.5 cm, and the concrete temperature not exceed

30 °C as per project specs.

❖ Aggregates used in concrete shall be inspected and meet the requirement of

standard. Concrete mix design should be conducted as per standard by laboratory

under strict supervision of SINOMA management staff.

❖ All raw materials used to make concrete shall be measured accurately in batching

plant, and the measure system shall be checked regularly according to relevant

specification. The delivery ticket shall be taken from batching plant.

❖ Enough aggregate, sand, stone, water + admixtures shall be prepared before work

start. Concrete admixture stock shall be calculated based on maximum dose

quantity according to manufacturer data sheet to avoid material shortage during

casting.

❖ Inspect and observe concrete uniformity and slump as per standard requirement,

take concrete testing sample on site and conduct curing in curing room. The testing

for slump should be conducted as per relevant local standard.

SINOMA 12 / 22
❖ Inspections and checks at various stages of the concrete works will be performed

using the pre- and post-concrete form attached and will be filled by the production

department and filed by the quality department

❖ The two Concrete batch plants capacity is ≥150m³/h, enough (aggregate, sand,

stone, water) shall be prepared before the work starts.

❖ Concrete mixer trucks are applied for horizontal concrete transportation: There are

8 vehicles at site, with 10 m3 capacity can be delivered each time for each one,

the transportation time from batching plant to work site is about 10 minutes. For

cement mill building foundation, we will use two mobile

pumps to pour the concrete. “see the fig 4 for the location of the pump”

❖ Make detailed execution specification about overall concrete pouring and vibrating

order, the way of concrete transport, construction joint location, discharge and

vibrating method and key point and difficulty of quality control for the foreman and

labors.

❖ The thickness of foundation is 2 m, total concrete amount is ~420 m³ which will

be poured in two stage but before the concrete setting time between the stage.

The supply capacity of 150 cubic meters per hour.

420/10 = 42 truck deliveries.

420/150= 2.8 hours.

SINOMA 13 / 22
So, assume 6 hours for the completion of the concrete delivery, plus 4 hours for
Rejected, casting to
toweling and curing protection. start early in the
morning (around 6 am)
❖ Pouring is scheduled to start at 17:00 pm and finish at 11:00 pm.

maintain and repair related machinery equipment in time for keeping them in

good working order. Making plan for manpower distribution, material supply,

equipment performance and logistic arrangement to ensure continuity and

quality of concrete pouring.

❖ Self-inspection shall be carried out very carefully and strictly according to the

approved drawing and relevant local standard before requesting consultant for

inspection.

❖ The form shall be well cleaned to be free of detritus, sawdust, standing water or

other sundries. In order to prevent concrete leakage, the joints between forms

shall be completely tight, any big gaps or holes found shall be well sealed

instantly. The forms shall be wetted to a damp condition before concrete pouring.

❖ Adopts high performance water–reducing admixture according to trial mixing ratio

if admixture is needed.

8.2.3.3 Concrete Pouring

Concrete pouring shall be started after the owner/ consultant gives the orders and concrete

delivery list. We will have two pumps for casting, each pump will start opposite to the other,

SINOMA 14 / 22
the sequence of casting will be from the nearest edge adjusted to the pump towards the far

foundations edge. Eventually the two pumps will meet in the middle of the foundation by the

completion of each layer. By this method will minimize the concrete pressure on the one side

of the shuttering and distribute the concrete evenly on the foundation area without causing

any kind of segregation or cold joint. “See the attached layout”. Three vibrators are arranged

for each pump, at the front, middle and back of each concrete pouring band. The foundation

will be casted in two stage “see the section A-A “. firstly 0.8 m thickness will be poured in 3

layers. Then we will have time gab between the two stage which will not be more than the

initial setting time in order to make the base of the stage two stiff enough to carry the concrete

above. Secondly 1.2 m from the foundation will be poured in 4 layers. The concrete is poured

in layers, advancing horizontally layer by layer. The thickness of each layer is not more than

300mm and strictly controlled by calipers on site. The interval time of each layer of concrete

pouring shall not exceed the initial-set time of the previous layer of concrete (the initial-set

time of concrete is generally (3h), and the pouring shall be carried out after the second

vibration of the previous layer of concrete. Each layer of pouring shall be closed and vibrated

in place at the pouring joint. Date and time should be announced 24 hours prior to casting to

get all parties ready. vibration of the concrete shall be applied using either petrol or electrical

vibrators. there shall be back-up pokers on standby in case of mechanical failure.

The number of workers and the number of pumps needed according to the volume of

projected concrete cast volumes for each foundation:

8.2.3.3.1 Key Point During Casting

i. The way to vibrate concrete will be complying with the principle of “quick in, slow

out”. The vibration depth must be no more than 30cm. The vibrator must be used

vertically only and the inserting vibrator’s moving radius should be not more than

1.5 time of vibrator’s effective radius, under the normal condition, the vibration

effective radius is 8 or 9 times of vibrator’s radius (about 50cm). The space

between vibrator and side formwork should be kept 5 to 10cm and be aware of

avoiding to touch steel bar and embedded parts. The concrete pouring in upper

layer must be conducted after the vibration work of concrete in down layer finish,

the vibrator must insert the concrete in down layer about 5 to 10cm when vibrating

SINOMA 18 / 22
concrete in upper layer, the vibration period of each point is 10s, the time must

be not less than 10s under any condition.

ii. In the process of pouring and vibrating concrete, the foreman shall arrange a

carpenter for checking concrete cover, embedded items to ensure they would not

be reduced or moved. The forms and supporting system shall also be checked

regularly to ensure the deformation is within tolerance during the process.

8.2.3.4 Concrete curing method:

The top of the concrete will be covered with plastic sheets to avoid evaporation of the

water the outer concrete, water spray below and above the plastic sheet will be applied.

Above this sheet Geotextile will be placed to keep the surface moist for a long period of

time. We are going to keep the form-work all around the foundation for 7 days as a curing

method therefore the form-work will prevent the evaporation of the water from the

concrete. Daily curing log follow up sheet will be included.

9. Health, Safety & Environmental impact

9.1 Health and Safety management approach

1) Safety education

SINOMA 19 / 22
Safety regulations (BS EN 1004-2004) must be carried out to improve consciousness of
