What are they?


They are the set of lexical units of a language comprising
terms linked to each other. They refer to the same order of
ideas.
They can be
divided into
different Nouns

grammatical Adjectives/Adverbs

categories: Verbs
Nouns

The relationship between items in a


hierarchy is called hyponymy
Adjectives/Adverbs
Non-predicative adjectives cannot be
used after the verb to be as the
predicate of a sentence
(The leader is former), are not gradable
(very previous), and cannot be made
into nouns.

Predicative adjectives are basically


organised into opposites (antonymy).

Adverbs are organised like adjectives.


Verbs
As for verbs, we must distinguish between those that represent an event and
those that represent a state.
There are fourteen semantically distinct groups:

1 bodily care 8 contact


2 bodily functions 9 creation
3 change 10 movement
4 cognition 11 perception
5 communication 12 possession
6 competence 13 intera
7 consumption 14 time
