Why be a Makatizen? Well it seems such an absurd idea but at the end of the speech I’ll tell you how
great it is to be a makatizen. In February of 2020, I left Zamboanga City and started working at Makati
City. Then, covid came and I was left to survive alone in a new city. I was actually jealous of those
residents who actually received ayudas that are only exclusive for Makati Residents. So, I decided to
transfer my voter registration to become an actual resident of Makati City. When I think about the
places where I’ve been I would always go back at my original residence, but never have I been in love in
another city just like Makati City. I want everyone to be a part of this city, and it is not yet too late.

So, why become a makatizen? first of all, education is free in all levels from preschool to college with
school facilities on par with private schools. You don’t need to have all the money to send your children
in school and not thinking about the school supplies. Makati City will offer you this all for free. Second,
free health consultation and medication in all medical center (and yes dental healthcare is included).
During my application period, medical certificate was needed and that it was given to me for free with
free consultation using my yellow card. Third is you can have financial assistance during calamities like
when It was at the peak of the pandemic everyone of us in Makati had five thousand pesos for just being
a resident there. And regardless whether you are rich or poor, if you are a senior citizen you will have
cash allowances, and cakes for your birthdays. But if you’re not an elderly don’t worry you’ll still have
Christmas gifts.

So why become a Makatizen? The answer is simple - because Makati is a city that offers so much to its
residents. It is a city that is dedicated to progress and development, a city that celebrates diversity and
culture, and a city that offers endless opportunities for growth and adventure.
