Dear Vicard Gibbings,

Unfortunately you are not able plot a different concentration of interest for different equipment in the same graph. You
can do this outside the software, export the results and plot in excel.

As far as our records show, you do not have a current SLA contract and we regret that we are therefore unable to
further provide support services to you on this occasion.

I hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you need further assistance.

Hi good day,

2
The below email does not specifically specify the “HC” nor “O2” concentration individually. What the below email does
is specify the concentration for both O2 and HC graphs as 23725 ppm. However, this is not what I want.

What I would like is to specify the concentration for O2 and HC to be different and then plots the graphs show the
different concentration (see below image).

Dear Vicard Gibbings,

In your case, you can adjust the LFL in the setting: after you plotted the graph, Consequences>Edit
Settings>Concentration:

Good day,

Thanks for this. How can I adjust the LFL values of both plots. For example, I would like the Hydrocarbon on HC to be
23725 ppm and the O2 plot to be XXXXX ppm.

Thanks,

Vicard Gibbings

5
Dear Vicard Gibbings,

I'm not so sure what do you mean "not able to plot O2 and track it"?

I used your model to created another equipment using Oxygen:

6
Oxygen in Phast is defined as inert material so I need to assign averaging time to the model. Then I run the calculation
and do the plot:

7
8
I have attached the model for your reference. Please clarify if my understanding is not correct.

I hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you need further assistance.

Dear Vicard Gibbings,

Yes, with this method you are able to plot more than one equipment or scenarios for the selected weather category.

I hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you need further assistance.

Thank you for the help thus far.

1. So what I am trying to do is plot an equipment (e.g. Vent) that is producing O2, and one that is producing
Hydrocarbons. I have defined both these compositions in the Materials tab as show below where “Cypre
Reverse Flow” is the hydrocabons:

10
1. I, then went to the “Models Tab” and created another “Pressure Vessel (1)” with a user define source but it is
not able to track the material “Oxygen”. In addition, I followed what you indicated and went to Weather tab as
shown below – is this the correct approach?:

11
Should both clouds be plotted at the same time?

Thanks,

Vicard

Dear Vicard Gibbings,

12
13
To plot two vents in same graph, you can model both of them using different equipment by defining different geometry.
After you run the calculation, go to Weather tab>select one weather category>click "Graphs">select the equipment or
scenario you would like to put them in the same graph>Finish.

The LFL value you can find it in the material properties for pure components:

14
15
This is the mole fraction at which the material will burn in the air.

For mixture, Phast will use mixing rule to calculate the LFL for your mixture:

You can find more details in the technical documentation, go to Help>Technical Documentation>XPRP Property System
(Password: PalaceHouse).

I hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you need further assistance.

Good day,

I would really appreciate the support. For example, can you confirm:

1. The current LFL values in PHAST can be obtained from where?

2. Is the LFL values shown, in relation to air?
3. If I would like to find the LFL value, in relation to 100% (pure oxygen) – can this be done?

Thanks,

Vicard Gibbings

Dear Vicard Gibbings,

Thank you for contacting DNV ‐ Digital Solutions Software Support.

I'm trying to understand your questions, please let me know if my answers help. You can model multiple vents
simultaneously and show them in the same graph but the calculations for discharge, dispersion and effect are
independent. For example when you model vent A and vent B, Phast will give you how far they disperse but Phast will
not model the interaction between these two disperse clouds.

The example below shows two leaks at different location and different discharge rate:

I hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you need further assistance.

Good day,

I am also using PHAST version 8.4. However, I am not sure if two vents can be modelled simultaneously on the same
graph and if this can affect each other’s trajectory of cloud?

Thanks,
