Flooding incidents took place in several municipalities in the province of

Oriental Mindoro due to the northeast monsoon.


January 4, 2023, a few municipalities in the province of Oriental Mindoro including Palawan
and Romblon gets flooded caused to the effects of the northeast monsoon that led to
ongoing light to moderate rain with rainstorms at times.
There were 18 reported flooded areas, and 9 roads and 7 bridges were also affected. There are
also three municipalities that experience power interruption and one municipality that suffers
water interruption. In MIMAROPA, 62 barangays are affected, affecting a total of 6,048 families
or 28,226 people. Furthermore, northeast monsoon damage to agriculture totals P315.3
million.
According to the DA's most recent report, 10,182 farmers are been affected, with a loss of
3,049 metric tons of production and 15,566 hectares of plantations.
Rice, corn, high-value crops, livestock, and poultry are among the commodities affected, as
stated by the DA.
According to the DA, the most significant damage was reported in rice fields, which were
reportedly damaged to the tune of P297.4 million.
Corn was disrupted for P16.1 million, high-value crops for P1.7 million, and pigs and chickens
for P174,300. According to the (PAGASA).
