How I prepare for my

KUBERNETES
CERTIFICATIONS

Training & Certification

basic level
1. Practise by doing

Kubernetes certifications are

performance-based and you need
to spend a significant time of your
preparations on solving practical
tasks!

My approach is to heavily utilise the

exam simulator (Killer.sh) for the
final preparations.

Remember that everyone who

registers for the Kubernetes exams
(CKA, CKAD, CKS) can do two exam
simulations.
2. Schedule in advance

I recommend doing the first

simulation at least a week before
the exam and the second attempt
just a day or two before the exam.

Doing the first attempt in advance

will give you time to evaluate your
attempt and use it as an input for
further preparations.
Practise solving tasks
3. under time pressure

The exam includes many tasks. You

should avoid getting stuck on a
task for a longer period.

Moreover, it is challenging to stay

focused on solving tasks for two
hours without any break.

Therefore, it’s worth it to perform

one exam simulation attempt in a
setup as close as possible to the
actual exam – two hours straight
and only using materials allowed
during the exam.
4. Learn from own mistakes

After the first attempt, carefully

analyse your answers and for the
tasks that you got wrong, check the
suggested solution.

Try to fix your solutions right away

and keep re-grading until all your
answers are correct!

Keep notes and use them as a

guide for further preparations.
5. Learn from own mistakes

During the last days before the

exam, do your second simulated
exam.

That will help you remember where

to find important code snippets in
the official documentation.

Moreover, you will make sure that

you memorised the most common
commands, so you don’t lose
precious time on the basics during
the exam.
