Juliet is a dynamic character because at first, she hasn’t thought much about love but

then she quickly falls in love with Romeo but is cautious, and she later puts Romeo above
everything including her family. In the beginning of the play, when Lady Capulet talks to Juliet
about Paris, Juliet says she hasn’t thought about marriage but will give Paris a look but only
because her parents have asked her to. She seems innocent and obedient to her family,
accepting their request. In the middle of the play, she is very much in love with Romeo, but she
is cautious. She wants to be honest and not play games, and she needs to be sure of Romeo’s
love, saying, “O, swear not by the moon, th’ inconstant moon, That monthly changes in her
circle orb, Lest that thy love prove likewise variable.”(2.2.109-111). In Act III, Romeo kills Tybalt,
Juliet’s cousin and Romeo is banished. The news gets back to Juliet by the nurse, and Juliet
weeps for Romeo’s banishment and not even for Tybalt’s death, very different to her loyalty to
her family in Act I. She also refuses when her parents tell her she is to marry Paris, also
showing her change in loyalty from her family to Romeo. All in all, throughout the play, Juliet has
some major changes in character. She goes from being loyal and obedient to her family and not
interested in love, to in love with Romeo but cautious, to more loyal to Romeo and less to her
parents. These inferences show how dynamic of a character Juliet really is.
