Temporary Airspace Restrictions in Ottawa and Area

An aviation NOTAM has been issued restricting operation of RPAS in the Ottawa area from 5:30 pm
EDT on March 23rd until 10:00 pm on March 24th. This impacts all aircraft including RPAS.

CYR546 Class F restricted airspace is now established within a 24 nautical mile radius of the
Ottawa/MacDonald-Cartier International (CYOW) airport terminal. No aircraft operation, including
RPAS and mRPAS, are allowed in the restricted airspace except for police, military, scheduled
commercial passenger and cargo carriers, medevac and RCMP authorized flights.

It is the responsibility of every MAAC RPAS licensed member to conduct a site survey and to ensure
there are no NOTAMs issued which affect their operations. Relevant NOTAMs are included as part of
the site survey produced by RPAS Wilco and here is part of that site survey text:

754009W (OTTAWA/MACDONALD-CARTIER INTL TML) EXCLUDING CYR 537 AND CYR545, NO PERSON SHALL OPR AN ACFT
(INCL ALL RPAS) WITHIN THE AREA DESCRIBED, EXC POLICE, MIL, REGULARLY SKED COMMERCIAL PASSENGER AND
CARGO CARRIERS (CAR PART 704 AND 705) OR MEDEVAC FLT AUTH BY ATC OR OTHER FLT AUTH BY RCMP SECURITY
COORD 343-571-3804.

ALL ACFT AUTH BY RCMP SECURITY SHALL:

A. PRIOR TO FLT PLANNING INTO CYR546, HAVE AN AUTH NUMBER OBTAINED FM THE RCMP AIR SECURITY COORD 343-
571-3804. THE REQUEST WILL INCLUDE THE ARR/DEP LOCATIONS, OPR, PURPOSE OF FLIGHT AND NAMES AND BIRTH
DATES OF ALL PERSONS ONBOARD.

B. HAVE FLT PLAN WITH AUTH NUMBER IN THE REMARKS SECTION IN ORDER TO OBTAIN CLEARANCE TO OPR WITHIN
CYR546.

C. BE ON AN ACTIVE IFR OR VFR FLT PLAN WITH A DISCRETE CODE ASSIGNED DIRECTLY BY ATC OR VIA TELEPHONE (866-
VFR-CODE) AND SQUAWK THE DISCRETE CODE PRIOR TO DEP AND AT ALL TIMES WHILE OPR WITHIN CYR 546.

D. REMAIN IN TWO-WAY RDO COMM AT ALL TIMES WITH ATC. IF POSSIBLE, MAINTAIN A LISTENING WATCH ON 121.5
WITH BACKUP RDO.

UNAUTH FLT IN RESTRICTED AIRSPACE MAY RESULT IN INTERCEPTION, DETENTION AND PROSECUTION.
