Professional Philosophy Statement

I believe recreation and sport management are important to society because they create

opportunities and build relationships for the people involved. Recreation and sport management

played a huge role in my life growing up and still helps me today. With my experience in sports

all my life I think that I can bring a lot of knowledge and understanding of sport into the

profession. There is a place for everyone in Recreation and Sport and I think that is what is most

important.

My background plays a huge role in why I am so invested in sports and recreation. I grew

up playing sports starting when I was 4 years old, and ending when I was 18 years old. I will be

forever grateful my parents involved me in sports. From the life lessons that I was taught and had

to learn, to the friendships that will last forever. I want to work with recreation and sport so that I

can give other people the same experiences and opportunities I was able to get from it.

Recreation and sport are very important to society and especially to younger kids, they teach

them so many valuable life lessons. I had to learn how to manage my time when I was playing

sports. I was in middle school, and I also played three sports simultaneously. This taught me time

management and I had to figure out on my own how to set aside time to focus on school and

sports. Recreation and sport helps people grow relationships and communication skills. These are

two very important values in the sport and recreation world, and they are very helpful in life.

I believe that with my knowledge and experience of sports I can bring a lot of help and

support to this professional field. Recreation and sport changed my life and I want to help change

other people's lives too. Recreation and sport can be an outlet in people's lives and help them

escape. If I have an opportunity to help people the way recreation and sport helped me, then I

will do whatever it takes to excel in this field.
