This publication, as it skims through the fascinating documents and reproductions of an artist's career
spanning many decades, is not in an easy position. The artist's world holds us captive with extraordinary
force, immersing us in a thriving visual realm. However, this art is not about casual liberation, not about a
lighthearted visual world, not about the joy of beautiful landscapes spread before us; instead, it unveils
a creator's "magic carpet" that transports us into the almost inexhaustible realm of anxiety-filled fantasy.
Rádóczy Gyarmathy's works do not meet the frequently heard and emphasized requirement that "art should
soothe." No – thanks to God and the creative artist – Rádóczy Gyarmathy does not lull us, but rather agitates
us, but above all confuses us...
His imagination is immense, his power of imagination exceptional, his repository of symbols is exceptionally
rich, but he employs them with unprecedented consciousness. In his works, he always expresses something,
always solves a problem after forcefully raising it. And all of this is rooted in the fact that he has a strong
worldview. He is not guided by instincts (though their role cannot be denied), he does not hide behind the
mask of psychological visions and revelations that emerge from the subconscious, although his toolkit
seems to be closely related to them. It is highly important, one could say fundamental, for him to build upon
knowledge. His works clearly testify to this.
