Analog signals

2. Quantization:

- Once the analog signal is sampled, each sample is quantized. Quantization


involves assigning a discrete digital value (usually binary) to each sample. The
number of bits used for quantization determines the resolution of the ADC. For
example, an 8-bit ADC can represent each sample using 8 binary digits (bits),
providing 2^8 (256) possible digital values.

3. Comparison:

- In many ADC types, each quantized sample is compared to a reference voltage (or a

- **Binary to Decimal**
The process of converting binary to decimal is quite simple. The process
starts from multiplying the bits of binary number with its corresponding
positional weights. And lastly, we add all those products.
- **Binary to Octal**
The base numbers of binary and octal are 2 and 8, respectively. In a binary
number, the pair of three bits is equal to one octal digit. There are only two
steps to convert a binary number into an octal number which are as follows:
1. In the first step, we have to make the pairs of three bits on both sides
of the binary point. If there will be one or two bits left in a pair of three
bits pair, we add the required number of zeros on extreme sides.
2. In the second step, we write the octal digits corresponding to each
pair.

- **Binary to Hexadecimal**
The base numbers of binary and hexadecimal are 2 and 16, respectively. In a

are also only two steps to convert a binary number into a hexadecimal number
which are as follows:
1. In the first step, we have to make the pairs of four bits on both sides
of the binary point. If there will be one, two, or three bits left in a pair of
four bits pair, we add the required number of zeros on extreme sides.
2. In the second step, we write the hexadecimal digits corresponding to
each pair.

For converting decimal to binary, there are two steps required to perform, which
are as follows:
In the first step, we perform the division operation on the integer and the
successive quotient with the base of binary(2).
Next, we perform the multiplication on the integer and the successive quotient
with the base of binary(2).

Decimal to Octal
1. In the first step, we perform the division operation on the integer and the
successive quotient with the base of octal(8).
2. Next, we perform the multiplication on the integer and the successive quotient
with the base of octal(8).
So, the octal number of the decimal number 152.25 is 230.2
Decimal to Hexa-Decimal
1. In the first step, we perform the division operation on the integer and the
successive quotient with the base of hexadecimal (16).
2. Next, we perform the multiplication on the integer and the successive quotient
with the base of hexadecimal (16).
So, the hexadecimal number of the decimal number 152.25 is 98.4.

Hexa-decimal to Octal
First, convert the hex number to binary. Then group the binary digits in sets of 3,
starting from the right, and convert each group to its octal equivalent. For
example, 1A in hex is 00011010 in binary, and in octal, it's 032 .
Hexa-decimal to Decimal
For each hexadecimal digit, multiply its decimal equivalent by 16 raised to the
appropriate power and sum the results. For example, converting 1A in hex to
decimal: 1 * 16^1 + 10 * 16^0 = 16 + 10 = 26 . So, 1A in hex is equal to 26 in
decimal.

base-10 (decimal), the maximum digit value is 9. So, to find the ones' complement of a
