1. World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM)
The World Scout Jamboree is a flagship event of the World Organization of the Scout
Movement(WOSM). Scouting is a global youth movement that builds friendships,
experiences, and skills for life, shaping young people's futures as active global citizens.

The Mission of Scouting is to contribute to the education of young people, through a value
system based on the Scout Promise and Law, to help build a better world where people
are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society.

There are 173 National Scout Organizations who are official Member Organizations of
WOSM. Today, over 57 million young people, supported by millions of dedicated volunteers,
take part in Scouting activities and events worldwide. More than 500 million youth have
participated in the movement since its inception in 1907. More information can be found at
www.scout.org.

2. Scout Programme and Method

Scouting promotes the growth and development of young people both as individuals and
citizens through its programmes and initiatives. It is an educational movement committed to
ensuring that each new generation of young people has the opportunity to realise their full
potential as leaders in their community and the world.

Scouting’s non-formal educational approach aims to equip young people with the skills and
competencies that enable these ideals. Through the Youth Programme, Scouting supports
young people to become active citizens who are committed to being of service by being
solutions-oriented and focused on creating positive change.

The Scout Method is an essential and unique system for progressive self-education. It
applies various elements that support Scouting’s purpose and principles, and creates a
cohesive and balanced system for young people to experience the true potential of
Scouting in a safe environment. By empowering young people to become active citizens,
they will gain lifelong learning and skills based on shared values, education, fun, and
enjoyment.

3. Making Memories and Creating a Better World

Scouts who have participated in World Scout Jamborees often say that the best part of the
experience is making friends with people from around the world. Scouts will engage in

through programmes in the areas of the environment, peace, diversity and inclusion, and
humanitarian action. More information here about various Scouting areas of work and key
initiatives.
