T h i n g s to kn ow :
It is your responsibility to come to class on time, and prepared to learn. This means bringing your organized
binder, calculator, loose leaf paper, and writing utensils.
Electronic Devices: cellphones will be put away and out of sight during class.
Late work: For all categories of assignments students have 1 week to turn in assignments without a late
penalty. No late work will be accepted after 1 week.
Class cuts: If a student cuts class, but is in the building, work will not be accepted and result in a zero.
Assessment Retakes: Students will be given an opportunity to retake assessments. Students have 3 attempts
(1 original + 2 retakes) for assessments if needed. The scores will be averaged.
Extra Credit – No extra credit will be offered in order to provide equal opportunities to all students.
It is important for students and parents to understand the progress and level of mastery that is being
achieved by the student on a regular basis. Student grade in the course reflects the progress and learning
that has occurred so far, and will continually changed until the end of semester.
Equity Statement
As a culturally responsive school, at Prosser Career Academy we will validate students’ identity and cultural
background by providing opportunities for student voice and listening to our students because we understand
their past experience impacts their performance in school. We will introduce students to new voices and
worldviews and explore the value of diverse experiences. To show respect for diverse cultures, we will establish
norms that welcome our students and provide a safe environment conducive to teaching and learning for all. We
will use culturally relevant curriculum and ensure our students have equitable access to opportunities and success.
We believe students are capable of high levels of achievement when properly guided and given various
opportunities to show what they know, and we will grade in ways that are clear, transparent and equitable. It is
our responsibility to challenge and develop our students’ abilities, skills and goals, and we will continue to reflect on
our own experiences and how they are similar to or different from those of our students in order to best meet
our students’ learning needs.
