Hurricane Lee Update Sep 09 1500z

The core of Hurricane Lee is projected to veer well north of the Northern Leeward Islands, the Virgin
Islands, and Puerto Rico during the upcoming weekend and early next week.

Currently, dangerous surf and life-threatening rip currents are affecting areas of the Northern Leeward
Islands. These conditions are gradually extending westward and northward, with anticipated impacts on
Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, the Turks and Caicos, the Bahamas, and Bermuda later today and Sunday.

It remains too early to determine the exact extent of Lee's impact, if any, along the U.S. East Coast,
Atlantic Canada, or Bermuda in the latter part of next week. This uncertainty is due to the expectation
that the hurricane will significantly slow down over the southwestern Atlantic. Nonetheless, we
anticipate dangerous surf and rip currents along most of the U.S. East Coast beginning Sunday and
Monday
