Dear Admission Authority:

The purpose of this letter is to register my interest to study in the programme “International
Business – Sustainable Global Business, Master of Science (Economics and Business
Administration).”

In the first place, I always have the practice of continuous improvement through making
positive strides in life. Secondly, I have a long career working in the field of supply chain
sustainability. However, though I have a long career in the field of sustainability, but I feel
the urgency of pursuing for another academic degree related to sustainability. This indeed
will help me excelling further in terms of accuracy and perfection in my career. The formal
study will teach me enhancing my knowledge on sustainability by adding additional value to
my work.

The two-year programme has certain features to motivate me enrolling for the course.
Another point of my motivation was – being a sustainability professional I was also looking
for a programme covers issues related to sustainability critical for a business or a society. As
described in the program website – this is an interdisciplinary programme to offer someone
the possibility to develop my knowledge in three key areas of Sustainable Global Business;
these are –

1. global strategies in a digitized world

2. global marketing and entrepreneurship, and
3. leading people in a global business environment

According to the programme website, the programme also tries to develop important work-
life skills such as business research and analysis, critical thinking, decision-making and
problem-solving as well as negotiations. In addition, studying in multicultural learning
environment will provide you the possibility to master cross-cultural communication skills
and collaboration in diverse teams. All these feature definitely contribute to my decision of
applying for this programme.

Besides, over the years, alongside my professional career, I never stopped pushing myself
towards enhancing my academic career. I completed Master’s programmes in Governance,
Environmental Science and Business Administration from different educational institutions
with good grades. During my academic studies, I gathered knowledge on various aspects
related to sustainability starting from employment practice, health and safety, human rights
practice to environmental sustainability. All these helped me later in my profession. I always
tried to choose programmes that can be useful in my career. This time I wish to enroll for
another graduation programme on Sustainable Global Business for better understanding of
issues related to make a business sustainable.

Furthermore, I also have a track record of working in the field of sustainability involves with
a supply chain, where forcing suppliers to implement sustainability as per my company
guidelines is a part of my regular job responsibilities. In my work, I found people with almost
no skills in communication, no minimum knowledge on sustainability and no urgency to
understand their legal rights. The reasons can be many, but all these worked as a motivation
for me to apply for the programme of Sustainable Global Business. Formal knowledge on
sustainability from a renowned institution can help me excelling further.

The two-year master degree program in “International Business –Sustainable Global

Business” offered by University of Vaasa, Finland noted to be quite distinct in terms of
course content and scope of work. One of the special feature of this programme is the
connectivity between Business and Sustainability.

Study of sustainability for a sustainable business is imperative these days. The term
sustainability perhaps the most common terms used in modern business world now-a-day.
Sustainable Cities and Communities is goal number 11 in SDG. Sustainability is crucial to
save the planet destroyed mostly by man-made activities. It speaks about the urgency of
eliminating the hurdles for a better living today as well as in the future. It tries to find out the
equilibrium between economic growth, environmental care and social well-being. Business
need to find ways to assume responsibilities that emphasize sustainability.

The term sustainability in business suggest to the business activities performed without any
impact on community, environment and society to a broader extent. This an approach that
urges to add long-term value to a business by taking care of social, ecological and economic
environments. There are two main classifications to illustrate the concept of sustainable
business:

1. The impact on environment caused by the business

2. The impact on society caused by the business

Making a positive impact on one of those two areas is the intention of a sustainable business.
Companies failure to carry out such responsibility can produce negative results like damage
to society as well as to the environment. A good business enterprise incorporates
sustainability in their daily operations. This includes issues like employment practice, human
rights, gender equality, environmental responsibility, waste management, use of renewable
energy and other relevant issues pertinent to sustainability. Business decisions are made
keeping the sustainability issues on the top of the agenda.

A sustainable business is associated with people educated enough to understand the urgency
and need of a healthy environment, preservation of natural resources, minimization of wastes,
cultural practice, social cooperation, gender equality etc. My dream is to work for
developing sustainable workplace in the supply chain. Going back home, my first step will be
working on developing basic awareness on necessity of sustainability in business. Then, I
will slowly expand my activities at the advanced stage that directly motivates a business to
adapt sustainability in their priority list. There could a possibility that I am promoting myself
as a freelancer and engage myself with different voluntary organizations working for
sustainable development in the country.
As long as the research interest in concerned, I am highly motivated with overall content of
the programme. Accordingly, I register my research interest on a topic “Sustainable Global
Business: The Reality and Challenges”

At the end, I am confident that my work experience and educational background will put me
as a potential candidate for this Master’s programme. Alongside, successful completion of
this programme will be an achievement of my life-time. During the coursework, I’ll
definitely try to add additional values to the programme either from professional experience
or from my learnings. Last but not the least, I’ll put my all-out effort on my study as
effectively as possible to finish this up satisfactorily.
