Subject Description This learning area is intended to facilitate understanding and appreciation of
Philippine Contemporary Arts. It will also enrich learner’s recognition to the
Philippine Arts of every region.
Content Pre-test
Content Standard The learners demonstrate appreciation of contemporary art forms, found in the various
regions by understanding the elements and principles.
Performance Standard presents a form of integrated contemporary art based on the region of his / her choice. e.g.
choreography, musical instrument, literary and music composition, visual design, and/or
theatrical performance
Learning Competency The learners describe various contemporary art forms and their practices from the various

Objectives After going through this topic, you are expected to:
a. to assess student’s prior knowledge about contemporary Philippine arts.

A. Before the Lesson
Daily Routine:
The teacher asks a student to lead a short prayer followed by the checking of students’ attendance through the use
of class card. Before the class commence, the teacher makes sure that the learning environment is conducive for
learning. All things must be in proper order like the seating arrangement. The teacher will also remind the
students to behave well all throughout the lesson and observe minimum hygiene protocols like wearing of
facemasks.

Colonial and Contemporary Arts Tradition which will be directed to the different significant product of arts.
Abstraction: Engage students in the discussion of the art forms from the various regions through the development
of Philippine arts.
Application: Search for a National Art which captures your attention and share the meaning and story of it to the
class.
Generalization: Ask students the art forms from the various regions through the development of Philippine arts.

C. After the Lesson


Assessment: In a ¼ sheet of paper determine which particular art tradition was describe on each statement.
1. Arts in this period thrived because of the primary influences of our Filipino ancestors.
2. This period mirrors the contemporary culture and society; diverse and emerging art practices were
introduced.
3. Arts was used as one of the instruments to propagate the Catholic faith in this era.
4. A practiced of art was developed in this period wherein the themes of artworks are about the Philippines’
identity.
5. This period reflects the emerging development of Philippine art practices that continue to develop from
the 1970s to the present.
