Assessment Brief

Choose one of the following “attractors” of tourism provision as the focus of your

individual report coursework: -

 Business Events
 Culture & Heritage
 Festivals & Events
 Natural Environment
 Outdoor Activities

1. You are required to provide an “annotated bibliography” of three academic

journal articles which are relevant to your chosen topic. You may decide to focus

on the broad area of tourism provision chosen or decide to focus on a particular

element within the chosen area of tourism provision. (1200 words total). Each

bibliography should include focus on:-

 The main purpose, scope and focus of the paper

 A brief overview of the methodology used within the paper

 How it discusses/links with some previous research

 Its main findings and conclusions

2. Appraise your chosen focus in a global and local context. You are required to

refer to examples throughout to illustrate points within your discussion. You are

expected to support your appraisal with reference to the 3 sources within your

annotated bibliography and further relevant sources; both academic and non-

academic. (1800 words)

You should base your appraisal on some of the following factors (you should

consider between 3 – 5 factors) includes :-

 Net zero economy


 Tourism product development, diversification and innovation
 An industry living with Covid
 Cost of doing business/cost of living crisis
 Collaborative partnerships
 The changing consumer/consumer trends
 Digital transformation
 People and skills/workforce crisis
 Travel connectivity
 Inclusive tourism

Format
 Your report should be word-processed, font size 11 or 12, and be 1.5 line

spaced, in an appropriate font (Justified texts) and uploaded as ONE final

document.

 The assessment takes the form of a report and should be 3000 words

(not more than10% or less).

 As a report, you are expected to include executive summary and detailed

contents page. The work should include a clear introduction and be

structured in a coherent manner making appropriate use of sections,

paragraphs and providing a clear, logical flow to the work.

 Sources should include a minimum of ten academic journal articles, in

addition to other relevant supporting sources such as reports, news

articles etc should be.

 For the reference list it should be Harvard style and citations within the

body of work.

Criteria for Assessment:

The assessment grading grid will reflect the following criteria.

 Presentation and Structure 10%


 Depth and Breadth of Theoretical Understanding and Appraisal 45%
 Use of Examples to Expand and illustrate 45%
