REALIZED BY:

Alejandra G.
Karen D.

1) ¡WOMEN!

(1916-2006)
Jane was born on May 4, 1916 in Scranton -
Pennsylvania, United States. She was a Canadian
American journalist, author and activist.

2)
Jane and the city
Jacobs dealt with inhabiting, knowing cities and
being critical of urban approaches. Who was in turn
judged for being a "nosy" woman in urban planning,
designated as "domestic", in a derogatory manner.

3)
Eyes on the street
Jane Jacobs proposes "Eyes on the Street" as a
philosophy, where these local walks are a series of
urban tours to observe, share, listen and learn from
the different neighborhoods through the gaze of the
activist.

4)
"The death and Life of great
american cities"
Her most influential work was the famous book
"The death and Life of great american cities"
published in 1961. She mercilessly criticized a
government for territorial planning without thinking
about citizens and their expectations.

5) ¡The city!
Legacy
Jane Jacobs's walks and tours arose after her death,
when the Jane's Walk association was formed in
Toronto to care for and disseminate her legacy and
her ideas. Since 2007, therefore, these walks have
been held in different neighborhoods of various
cities around the world during the first weekend of
May.

6)
Why we choose her?
Taking into account everything she did and how
influential she was in our architecture career, we
will keep her in mind as an example to follow,
thinking more about the citizen and the
environment for the benefit of all of us who live in
the city.
