Topic ACID AND ALKALI

Content Standard 8.1 Acid and alkali

Learning Standard 8.1.2 Make generalization on acidic, alkaline and neutral substances through taste and touch
by testing a few substances.
8.1.3 Explore other materials to test acidic, alkaline and neutral substances.

Learning Objective At the end of the lesson, pupils are able to:
PL4 Make generalisation that taste and touch are not scientific indicators of the properties of
acidic, alkaline and neutral substances.
PL5 Explain through examples the use of acidic, alkaline and neutral substances in life.

Success Criteria Pupils are considered successful if they are able to:
 List down acidic, alkaline and neutral substance based on their taste and touch
 Write the use of acidic, alkaline and neutral substances in life

Activity Induction (10 min)


Group recap – pupils tell the use of litmus paper in daily life. Pupils tell the observation of color
changes by litmus paper and what substances it is.

Activities (70 min - reinforcement)


1. Pupils draw a table to different acidic, alkaline and neutral substances by taste and touch.
2. Teacher guide and facilitate pupils.
3. Pupils classify the substances based on acidic, alkaline and neutral in Peta Pokok (i-Think).
4. Pupils discuss with teacher about the acitivity and hear explaination from teacher.
5. Pupils watch the video about the uses of acidic, alkaline and neutral in daily life
6. Pupils do revision on activity book about the topic and discuss with teacher.

Conclusion (10 min)


Parking lot – pupils write down what they have learn about Acid and Alkali
