General instructions:-
(i) This question paper contains 38 questions that are compulsory.
(ii) Question paper is divided into FIVE sections section A, B, C, D and E.
(iii) In section A-question number 1 to 18 are multiple choice questions (MCQs) and
question number 19 and 20 are Assertion- Reason based questions of 1 mark each.
(iv) In section B-question number 21 to 25 are Very Short Answer(VSA) type questions of
2 marks each.
(v) In section C-question number 26 to 31 are Short Answer(SA) type questions carrying
3 marks each.
(vi) In section D-question number 32 to 35 are Long Answer(LA) type questions carrying
5 marks each.
(vii) In section E-question number 36 to 38 are case based integrated units of
assessment questions carrying 4 marks each. Internal choice is provided in 2 marks
questions in each case -study.
(viii) There is no overall choice. However, an internal choice has been provided in 2
questions in section B, 2 questions in section C, 2 questions in section D and questions
in section E.

22. In given figure ∆ABC ∼ ∆PQR, then find m+n.

23. If α and β are the zeroes of the quadratic polynomial p(x)= 4x2- 5x - 1, find the value
of α4 β3 +α3 β4.

24.Three vertices of a parallelogram taken in order are (-1, 0), (3, 1) and (2, 2)
respectively. Find the coordinates of the fourth vertex.

26.The base BC of an equilateral triangle ABC lies on the y-axis.The coordinates of


point C are (0,-3). The origin is the midpoint of the base. Find the coordinates of
the points A and B. Also find the coordinates of point D such that BACD is a rhombus.
OR
Find the ratio in which P(4,m) divides the line segment joining the points A(2,3) and
B(6,-3). Hence find the value of m.

27. Is it possible to design a rectangular park of perimeter 80m and area 300m2 ?
If possible then find the dimensions of the park.

28. Find the value of p so that the given system of equations has infinite solutions:
px + 3y = p - 3
12x + py = p
29. If the zeroes of the quadratic polynomial x2 +px +q are double the zeroes
of 2x2 -5x -3 , find the values of p and q.
30. In the given figure, AB || DC and diagonals AC and BD intersect at O. Find the
value of x.

OR
Through the midpoint M of the side CD of a parallelogram ABCD, the line BM is
drawn intersecting AC in L and AD produced in E. Prove that EL=2BL.
31. Prove that 2 + 5 is an irrational number.

Section - D
32. A train travels 360 km at a uniform speed. If the speed had been 5 km/hr more, it
would have taken 1 hour less for the same journey. Find the speed of the train.
OR
In a class test ,the sum of Shalu's marks in Mathematics and English is 30. Had she got
2 marks more in Mathematics and 3 marks less in English, the product of their marks
would have been 210. Find her marks in the two subjects.

33. If a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle, to intersect the other two sides in
distinct points, prove that the other two sides are divided in the same ratio.
Using the above, prove the following :-
In ∆ABC, DE| |BC and BD=CE. Prove that ∆ABC is an isosceles triangle.
34. Solve the following pair of linear equations graphically:
x + 3y = 6 ; 2x – 3y = 12
Also find the area of the triangle formed by the lines representing the given
equations with y-axis.

35. If x = p sec θ + q tan θ and y = p tan θ + q sec θ, then prove that x² – y² = p² – q².

36. Sharvi wants to organise her birthday party. Being a health conscious person, she
decides to serve fruits only.

She has 36 apples and 60 bananas at home and decided to serve them.she wants to
distribute fruits among guests, she does not want to discriminate among guests so she
decided to distribute equally among all.
a) How many guests Sharvi can invite maximum? (1)
b) How many apples and bananas will each guest get? (1)
c) Sharvi decided to add 42 mangoes also, in this case how many guests she
can invite and how many total fruits will each guest get? (2)

37. Maria is on a hike. If she hikes to the scenic lookout on the following map first, she
will have to cover more distance than if she went straight to the end of the hike.
Coordinate values on the map are in kilometers.
a) Find the co-ordinates of the point which divides the line segment joining the
points Maria and end in the ratio 1:2. (1)
b) What will be a midpoint of the path from maria to the end? (1)
c) What type of triangle is formed in the given graph? Justify. (2)

38. Rohit wants to distribute chocolates in his class on his birthday. He bought 24 dark
chocolates and some milk and white chocolates for his classmates. The total number of
students in the class is 54 and everyone gets a chocolate. Based on the above
information, answer the following questions.

a) If the probability of distributing milk chocolates is 1/3, then find the number of milk
chocolates Rohit has . (1)
b) Find the probability of distributing white chocolates . (1)
c) Rohit has added 10 more white chocolates in the box.Then find the probability of not
distributing white chocolates. (2)
