Muscles of Anterior Compartment of Forearm

Superficial layer: (Pass, Fail, Pass, Fail)

(All originate from medial epicondyle of humerus)

1. Pronator Teres (Pass)


 Inserts at radius

2. Flexor Carpi Radialis (Fail)


 Inserts at 2nd and 3rd Metacarpals
3. Palmaris Longus (Pass)
 Inserts at palmar aponeurosis

4. Flexor Carpi Ulnaris (Fail)


 Inserts at pisiform, hook of hamate and 5th Metacarpal
Intermediate layer:
(Originate from medial epicondyle of humerus, coronoid process of
ulna and lateral half of interosseus membrane)

1. Flexor Digitorum Superficialis


 Inserts at the base of 4 middle phalanges (from index to
little finger)
Deep layer: (P, P, P)

1. Pronator Quadratus
 Originates from ulna and inserts at radius

2. Flexor Pollicis Longus


 Inserts at the distal phalanx of thumb
 Origin: Medial epicondyle
3. Flexor Digitorum Profundus
 Inserts at the distal phalanges
 Origin: Medial epicondyle
