L1CEP0-EPC-0-CIV-NCR-00201 MDC DISREGARDING Standard Procedure - Metal Louver (E4) Installation
● DISREGARDING proper alignment, plumbness and water tightness as per SYSTRA specs concerning Metal Louver (E4) Installation.
See attactched Appendix_1 (Chapter 08 51 10, Section 15.3, Sub-section 15.3.3) and Appendix_2 (Chapter 1, Section 1.8)
● FAILURE to secure approved MST prior to the commencement of Metal Louver (E4) Installation. See attached Appendix_3 (L1CEP2-

Architectural Specifications APPENDIX_1
L1CEP2-SYTA-2-STN-SPN-20030-B NCR 201 - VALIDATION (ATTACHMENT / REFERENCE)
Fully Recessed Mullions: Where indicated, provide mullions fully recessed behind louver blades. Where length of
louver exceeds fabrication and handling limitations, fabricate with close-fitting blade splices designed to permit
expansion and contraction.
Exterior Corners: Prefabricated corner units with mitered blades with concealed close-fitting splices and with fully
recessed mullions at corners.
Where indicated for recessed louvers, provide extended sill, head and jamb trims as necessary
Join frame members to each other and to fixed louver blades with fillet welds, threaded fasteners, or both, as
standard with louver manufacturer, concealed from view, unless otherwise indicated or size of louver assembly
makes bolted connections between frame members necessary.
15.3. Execution
Examination
Examine substrates and openings, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements for installation
tolerances and other conditions affecting performance.
Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
Preparation
Coordinate setting drawings, diagrams, templates, instructions, and directions for installation of anchorages that
are to be embedded in concrete or masonry construction. Coordinate delivery of such items to Project site.
Clean and strip primed steel items to bare metal where site welding is required.
Installation
Locate and place louvers and vents level, plumb, and at indicated alignment with adjacent work.
Use concealed anchorages where possible. Provide brass or lead washers fitted to screws where required to
protect metal surfaces and to make a weathertight connection.
Form closely fitted joints with exposed connections accurately located and secured.
Provide perimeter reveals and openings of uniform width for sealants and joint fillers, as required.
Repair finishes damaged by cutting, welding, soldering, and grinding. Restore finishes so no evidence remains
of corrective work. Return items that cannot be refinished in the field to the factory, make required alterations,
and refinish entire unit or provide new units.
Protect unpainted galvanised and nonferrous-metal surfaces that will be in contact with concrete, masonry or
dissimilar metals from corrosion and galvanic action by applying a heavy coating of bituminous paint or by
separating surfaces with waterproof gaskets or nonmetallic flashing.
Before final inspection, clean exposed surfaces with water and a mild soap or detergent not harmful to finishes.
Thoroughly rinse surfaces and dry.
Restore louvers and vents damaged during installation and construction so no evidence remains of corrective
work. If results of restoration are unsuccessful, remove damaged units and replace with new units.
Touch up minor abrasions in finishes with air-dried coating that matches color and gloss of, and is compatible
with, factory-applied finish coating.
END OF SECTION
All joints within the Works shall maintain their water tightness under the loads and movements specified herein.
Allowance shall be made for both horizontal and vertical deflection of the structure due to differential settlement,
wind effects, deflection of beams, and the long-term effects of concrete creep. The allowance shall be additional
to that for concrete tolerance, refer to Structural Engineers specifications. The system shall be designed to
accommodate the worst possible combination of effects to prevent internal stress, failure, deterioration or failure
of weather seals as specified herein.
Changes in dimension and shape arising from building movements, including settlement, shrinkage, elastic
shortening, floor beam deflections, creep, wind sway, twisting and racking and thermal and moisture movement.
Due to movement of any joint in the supporting structure or building frame whether that joint is intended to permit
movement or not.
