The Prophet (s.a.w) said; “The bonds of
brotherhood between two Muslims are like
parts of a house, one part strengthens and
holds the other.” To illustrate this he crossed
his fingers of one hand with those of the
other (reported by Bukhari and Muslim).
In spite of future challenges and rapid
globalization, we as students should realize
the importance of knowledge. Knowledge is
the key and power to develop ourselves.
Without knowledge, we would be like bod-
ies without souls. Therefore we must realize
that learning is a journey, not a goal or desti-
nation. It is a process to emulate, and shape
us as an individual and in turn to contribute
to the society and the ummah. Knowledge
cannot be used to inflict evil or wrongdoings
in the world but to spread peace, justice and
the words of Allah and the teachings of our
beloved Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w).

OBJECTIVES & FUNCTIONS
1. To foster the spirit of brotherhood and
co-operation which transcends racial and
national boundaries among the students of
the University.
2. To assist the university in fulfilling its
vision and mission of integration, Islamiza-
tion, internationalization and comprehen-
sive excellence.
3. To assist the university to organize and
supervise, subject to the discretion of the
Rector, student welfare facilities and activi-
ties in the University.
4. To make representation to the Rector
on all matters relating to or connected with

asset to the needs of mankind, cultivating it
in the international environment of IIUM
which shall benefit the ummah presently and
in the future. Nevertheless, this is a mission
to be achieved and a vision seriously taken
to inculcate the sense of belonging and to
promote unity among the students. A civili-
zation requires a long term planning towards
excellence in both material and moral val-
ues, which includes the essence of unity and
belonging to Allah al-Mighty. Hence, SRC
is offering its ground as a mechanism, a
starting point to establish relations, to gener-
ate par excellent scroll holders and of
course, to be the midpoint for all students,
societies and clubs to obtain information and
to convey their views.
In short, this session, we strive to offer
you the best, InsyaAllah, of ourselves. We
hold strong to the objectives, mission and
vision of the SRC with hope that we will be
able to assist all students in all aspects of
campus life.

may, in accordance with a decision made by
the Rector for the purpose, be appointed to
undertake student welfare activities in the
universities in the University.

Life Threatening Problem Unresolved

The roads in front of Mahallah Uthman
and the Male Sports Complex are in des-
perate need of repair. There are two holes
in the middle of the road in front of Mahal-
lah Uthman (one, with the depth of ap-
proximately 3.5 inches and the width of
more than 13 inches, and another with the
depth of 3 inches and width of 2 inches)
and another hole on the road in front of the
Sports Complex (measuring 3.1 inches and
23 inches in depth and width respectively)
which prove as a threat to vehicles. These
holes seem more of a risk to drivers and
motorists at night as they are unable to see
them. Drivers and motorists tend to sud-
denly swerve their vehicles to avoid the
holes which may lead to accidents.

Death Trap!
A report has been made by SRC to the
authority and all of us are hoping that im-
mediate action is taken to repair the roads
before any unwanted accidents occur.
Apart from the opening of two new
cyber cafes, students can also now make
use of the coin-operated washing machines
provided at Mahallah Uthman, Ameenah
and Asma’. The services are available 24
hours everyday. You only need to pay RM
2 for every 7 kg load of clothes. Credits
should be given to Koperasi UIAM Berhad
and Inno Pintar Sdn. Bhd. for providing us
with these wonderful services.

Campus Security
on High Alert!

Due to the increasing number of theft
cases in this university, the security unit has
strengthened the implementation of safety
system within the campus compound. Secu-
rity officers have been making round-the-
clock check-ups on vehicles entering the uni-
versity. Students now have to produce their
matric cards whenever necessary. This is to
avoid the usurpers from entering the campus
ground.
Therefore, all students are then fore-
warned that they are to follow all the rules
and regulations of IIUM. The rules function
as the means to secure the safety of the com-
munity in this university. Let us do our part
in making it happen. Your co-operation is
highly appreciated.
Financial Unit
Students are expected to receive their PTPTN and
JPA loans as follows, provided that there is no
problem which may occur:
1st Level Students : 13th – 18th December 2004
Other Level Students: 18th – 24th December
2004
You are advised to plan your expenses wisely.
