fixed roof cubical type. Fixed roof tank is usually used when the quantity of crude oil is not too
large.
The crude oil storage tanks can be installed inside the building as well as it can be installed in
open. Practically all types of crude oils can be handled such as Palm Oil, Sunflower Oil, Soya Oil,
Nigerseed Oil, Coconut Oil, Cottonseed Oil, Groundnut Oil, Linseed Oil, Rapeseed Oil, Sesame
Oil etc.

2.2 Pressure Vessel

A pressure vessel is a closed container designed to hold gases or liquids at a pressure that is
different from the ambient pressure. These vessels, usually cylindrical, have a body with end caps,
called heads, fitted to the ends of the body. Pressure vessels are designed to operate safely at a
specific pressure and temperature, referred to as the “Design Pressure”

2.3 Expansion Bellow

Expansion bellows, in most cases, help in absorbing vibration and

movement absorption in the transferring process of high temperature commodities such as

exhaust gases, stream etc. Besides, they are also helpful to be used for other purposes such as
anti-vibration, absorption, building settlement and earthquake movement.
The bellows also work as auxiliaries for any high pressure, or heavy duty processes. They also
come of high use when it comes to minimizing the process and the by-products. Some key
accessories required to make efficient use of the expansion bellows include: liners, covers,
particulate barriers or purge connectors and limit rods.

MACHINERIES USED IN PREMISES

The firm comprises of many conventional machines such as Lathe machines, Drilling machines,
stainless steel bellow forming machine and many more. However, company has established an
automatic machine line up by adding some latest automatic material removal machines, which
helps to speed up the machining processes. In addition to that, automatic machining line not
only provides a quicker operation but also maintain accuracy and precision to quality, which
are the two main pillars for company’s growth.

3.2 LATHE MACHINE

Lathe machines are the oldest machining approach to remove material from a product. These
machines are still in use in this fast moving era. Similarly, JP Group also have some of them.
Mostly they are used to make work economical and accurate, also lathe machine allows human
to interact with it manually. This makes human having more precise control over machining
operation.

In this factory, lathe machine have so many tasks like creating fixtures, manufacturing products
of casted items, rough turning operation, etc. There are around 10 lathe machines are available
in the shop, some of them are converted to special purpose machine.

Fig 3. 2 Lathe Machine

Most of the lathe machines are heavy duty machines which are used to carry huge diametric
parts. They are also able to sway smaller diameter parts but it would affects productivity if it
would performed so.

3.3 SHIELDED METAL ARC WELDING

Fig 3. 3 Shielded Metal Arc Welding

An electric current, in the form of either alternating current or direct current from a welding power
supply, is used to form an electric arc between the electrode and the metals to be joined. The
workpiece and the electrode melts forming a pool of molten metal (weld pool) that cools to form a
joint. As the weld is laid, the flux coating of the electrode disintegrates, giving off vapors that serve
as a shielding gas and providing a layer of slag, both of which protect the weld area from
atmospheric contamination.

3.4 DRILLING MACHINE

Fig. 3.4 Drilling Machine

A drilling machine, also called a drill press, is a powerful tool used to cut a round hole into or through
metal, plastic, wood, or other solid materials by turning and advancing rotary drill bits into a
workpiece.

This drilling cutting tool (Drill Bit) is held in the drill press by a chuck and fed into the work at variable
speeds. The speed and feed should be set properly and coolant needs to be provided for the desired

finished part. The drilling machine can not only be applied in the drilling process but is also useful for
many other machining operations.

3.5 BELLOW MACHINE

Fig 3. 5 Bellow Macbine

Stainless Steel Bellow Forming machines are used to form convolutions on thin tubes made of
stainless steel and other required metals. Hydraulic force is used to expand sectoral dies from inside
the tubes. Expanding dies create convolutions from inside-out. Such convoluted tubes are used as
expansion joints in piping network in industries. They are applied in automobiles at the exhaust point
to avoid vibrations in the vehicles.

Team ID 220974 VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS OF THE COMPANY

Management has become much easier after dividing tasks involved in company’s day to day
practices in to several departments. Each department has a different motive, and a separate leader
is assigned to each department to guide a team.

The whole production process is divided among several stages, which begins with raw material
processing and completes with packaging of an item to a particular packing. The whole procedure
comprises casting, machining, finishing and at last packaging after testing if required.

The main departments are listed below with their assigned tasks and duties, also the procedures
which are being carried out are mentioned well.

4.1 RAW MATERIAL MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT

Raw material management is the most important factor to maintain quality of product. This
department has assigned to manage the stock of raw material, to inspect the raw material
properties, and many similar tasks. The given table suggests the responsible person for
particular department and his duties.

4.2 DESIGN DEPARTMENT

JP Group has always been active and believed in continuous development, that is why the
company prefers to design parts themselves. There are notable amount members involved in
this particular department. From scratch or a physical model to complete machining process all
are being well designed by this department. This department covers some basic activities such
as 2D Designing, 3D Modeling, Program generation for computer controlled machines such

CNC Turning Centre and CNC Milling Centre. Also it requires some logical skills as machine
setup is a crucial task.

4.3 R & D DEPARTMENT

Research and development department is considered as the key to success for any growing
industry. Similarly, JP Auto India has developed its own R & D department for its product
development. This department has close linkages between all departments as it is committed to
provide most optimal solution for any problems experienced by production process or product
itself when put to use.

4.4 PACKAGING & DISPATCH DEPARTMENT

Most of the product quality is predicted on the basis of its packaging, so it is advised to pack a
product wisely. Packaging of products is being done by a team who also manages dispatch
activities. Also there are several types of packaging used in this company. These packages are
categorized by several criteria such as product quantity, product type (oily or dry), and so on.
