INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENTS:
To complete this assessment, you must assume a senior role in your chosen business. This role should suit a manager or
leader in the organisation who identifies, analyses and acts on information from a variety of sources. This role should
also require initiative and judgement to deal with unpredictable problems and manage the work of self and others.

Part A: Presenting and negotiating


1. Meet separately with each identified group to present your presentation(s) and negotiate outcomes. Adapt your
communication style to suit each audience.
2. Each meeting should take not more than 30 minutes.
Note: This meeting may take place with classmates or your assessor who may play the role of one or more team
members

3. As you lead the meeting/presentation, you must demonstrate the following skills and abilities:
a. engage and motivate the meeting attendees
b. set the meeting objectives (seek consensus from all attendees)
c. contribute to discussions using appropriate language, tone, structure and style
d. use active listening and questioning to seek information and confirm understanding
e. provide an opportunity for the audience to ask questions (make sure you answer them clearly and concisely).
f. Adapt personal communication style to build trust amongst the team
g. Select relevant vocabulary and adjust language and presentation features
h. Show respect for the opinion of others

i. negotiate as planned, establish areas of common ground and compromise where applicable.
j. resolve conflict, if any, that may arise
k. remind the teams to provide you with feedback using the feedback form and to hand them out to you after
the meeting/presentation.
l. after the presentations, develop/create separate written documents on the outcomes of each meeting (i.e.
one Meeting Minutes per meeting).
m. distribute the Meeting Minutes to relevant meeting stakeholders (separately) via emails.

Part B: Improvement Plan


1. Develop a one-page Improvement Plan (IP) that identify areas for improvement including what you did well and
how you can improve. Collate the feedback from the 2 teams into the IP. Your plan must include:
a. Areas for Improvement
b. Action to be taken for each area of improvement
c. Date/schedule of each action to be completed
d. Resources required for each action

2. Use a table format for the Improvement Plan
