The Insight Vision Workstation (IVW) is a workstation for viewing and processing medical images. It

can receive digital images and data from a variety of medical equipment, including CT, MR, US, RF as
well as other digital radiation equipment. The IVW can store, transmit, process and display images on

local hard disks, and can also perform the above operations on images stored in a distributed manner

on a local area network.

Image data retrieval: provide patient information retrieval, open examination, patient

image loading, reports, film layouts, import and export, as well as sending and burn

images.

Patient information management: retrieval and browsing of patient data, browsing of

examination sequences, display of two-dimensional images and thumbnails of loaded

examinations sequences, sending and printing reports, in addition to adding bookmarks

and other functions to the selected patient data.

DICOM3.0 standard: local storage and management of image data, remote transmission,

import and export, disc backup and burning, image processing, 3D reconstruction,

diagnosis report writing and editing.

Remote query: In the workstation, image data can be queried and obtained from other

standard-compliant equipment through the DICOM standard.

Patient information can be quired according to query conditions and image browsing

licenses may be obtained. Images may be sent to a designated third parties.

Film layout and printing: provide film layout, film settings and printing functions

a. Display the current total number of layouts of the current window, show the current

layout number, display the number of images and the number of existing images of the

current page layout.

b. Zoom and reset buttons are of use when the layout is more than one page. Click the

zoom button to maximize the view of current layout, and then click the reset button to

return to the layout.

c. Provides common layouts 4X4, 4X5, 4X6, 5X6, 5X7, and tooth layout 1/4X4, 1/4X5,

1/4X6, 1/5X6, 1/5X7

Report editing: Report editing function includes report writing area, image area, quick

input template area, and function button area. Users can write reports with descriptions,

diagnoses, and suggestions, and include images in the reports. The input template can

quickly fill in the description, diagnosis, and suggestion areas of the report with frequently

used words, reducing the amount of input from users. Users can replace, add, edit, delete,

or zoom in the template.

Advanced report function: When using advanced applications such as Lung Nodule

Analysis and Bone Mineral Density Analysis to send and generate reports, advanced report

page is entered, the report is stored in PDF format and cannot be edited after generation.

2D image viewer

a. Displays, loads, and checks 2D images, including images, rulers, four corners information,

annotation information, measurement information and grids.

b. Displays the sequence thumbnail of the loaded examination. When multiple examinations

are loaded, double-click the sequence thumbnail and the corresponding sequence image

is displayed.

c. Interface layout adjustment: The sequence layout has two layouts: horizontal and vertical.

It provides 5 preset sequence layouts, 1X1, 1X2, 1X3, 2X2, 3X1 as well as 1 positioning

image layout mode, 1 custom layout. The default is 2*2 layout when the system starts.

Image layout provides four preset image layouts and custom image layout modes: 1X1,

2X2, 2X3, 3X3

d. Multiple image manipulation tools are offered, including panning, zooming, magnifying,

ROI zooming, and automatic Window width and window level adjustment, ROI window

width and window level adjustment, dual mode window width and window level

adjustment, mouse control window width and window level adjustment, clockwise 90

degrees rotation, counterclockwise 90 degrees rotation, horizontal mirroring, vertical

e. A variety of preset window width and window level values are available, including brain

tissue, pituitary, orbit, bone, sinus, inner ear, throat, and neck.

f. Image browsing function includes five operations: the first page; the previous page; play;

the next page and the last page. The play can be set to loop play or forward sequence

play, and the speed can be set and adjusted.

g. Measurement annotation is used for image information post-processing annotation and

measurement. It mainly includes tools such as circle, rectangle, polygon, pixel, straight

line, angle, scale, peak curve, text, arrow, gap measurement, hand-drawn curve

annotation and cross line annotation. It supports customized panel display setting.

h. Additional functions include opening and clearing images, sending, and printing reports.

Multi-planar reconstruction (MPR): The image display window realizes output through

the combined layout of multiple basic windows. The basic windows are cross section, coronal

plane, sagittal plane, and oblique plane. The content displayed in the basic image display

window includes crosshairs, four-corner information, orientation information, display mode,

ruler, and orientation box. It supports batch processing mode, support definition of layer

number, layer spacing, layer thickness, FOV, offset, angle and drawing mode, as well as

playback batch processing. It provides three playback speeds, fast, medium, and slow.

3D: It displays cross section, coronal plane, sagittal plane section and three-dimensional

visualization image. Layout and display mode may be adjusted to achieve different image

display requirements, including 2D, MIP, AIP, MinIP, SSD and VR. Layout settings provide two

layouts 2*2 and 3*1.

Routine Applications

One-click bone removal: Click the bone removal button in the VR view to achieve bone

removal function. The default upper and lower limits of the bone removal threshold are

3071HU and 200HU, respectively. The user can also manually input the threshold.

One-click patient table removal: Click the patient table removal button to automatically

realize table image removal.

Virtual Endoscopy: Visualize the cavity and anatomy in the 3D volume mode and realize

flying and roaming in the cavity. Supports the linkage display of MPR and VE. The eye

positioning depth of field is adjustable from 1-10cm. The default is 4cm. It supports roaming

path definition, spacing setting, editing and playback, as well as adjustment of playback

direction, step length, speed, pause, U-turn, and loop.

It supports roaming records and saves to the list. It supports saving as video in avi format,

adjustment and editing of opacity, and it can be controlled through the keyboard and panel.

Lung Nodule Analysis (optional)

It performs lung segmentation and extracts nodules within the selected image sequence,

calculates lung volume, lung nodule volume, number of lung nodules, and describe nodule

position, shape, edge, volume, thoracic features, bronchial features, blood vessel features,

pleural features, diameter, maximum cross-sectional area, volume, maximum, minimum,

and average CT value. Achieves effective evaluation of lung nodules and generates nodule

reports.

It provides nodule extraction, nodule matching, calculation of nodule volume, effective

diameter, maximum area, maximum diameter, maximum, minimum, and average CT value,

Nodule matching is divided into manual matching and automatic matching.

Lung Function Analysis (optional)

Using CT chest scan images, it performs lung parenchymal extraction, lung trachea extraction,

lung lobes segmentation, emphysema extraction and calculation of lung volume occupied by

emphysema. LFA is a powerful tool for clinicians to evaluate the structure and function of

lung tissue. It can distinguish whether patients have emphysema or small airway disease,

and quantitatively evaluate the changes in the structure and trachea.

It provides automatic extraction, including left and right lung parenchyma, lung trachea and

emphysema, and supports manual extraction and editing

It automatically calculates the volume of emphysema, and generates reports, including left

It automatically segments the lungs, extracts the nodules, and calculates the lung nodule

volume, shape, location, edge, pleural characteristics, bronchial characteristics, blood vessel

It automatically calculates and generates a report to provide an effective information such

as the volume change rate and doubling time required for future follow-up and comparison.

It supports manual nodule modification, which can be divided into 4 methods: zoom, contour,

magnetic, and erasure.

Advanced Pneumonia Analysis (optional)

It automatically segments the lungs, extracts the lesions, calculates the lesion volume,

describes the location of the lesions, effectively evaluates pneumonia, and generates reports.

Selected specific lesions can be reconstructed as 3D images, and it automatically calculates

the volume, effective diameter, location, and other information about the lesion, and provides

effective information such as the volume change rate and doubling time required for future

follow-up.

Brain Perfusion (optional).


Post-processing is based on the same layer or multi-slice brain CT images after the
injection of contrast agent.
According to the time density curve of arteries, veins, and the perfusion time, it calculates
the perfusion parameter map, including cerebral blood flow map (CBV), cerebral blood
volume map (CBF), mean transit time (MTT) and time to peak (TTP). It supports pseudo-
color setting, ROI time density curve graph (TDC), and ROI perfusion parameter display,
support low perfusion analysis statistics. According to the area of brain tissue, it is divided
into left brain, right brain, and whole brain, and calculates the area of brain tissue and area
where the average transit time decreases, where the average transit time decreases and
along with blood volume decreases, and the respective ratio to brain tissue. The ratio of the
decrease in average transit time to the entire hypoperfusion brain tissue (Index) is also
calculated.

CT Digital Subtraction Angiography Analysis (optional)


It utilities CTA images to subtract CT images without a contrast agent, under the process of
a series of medical image analysis algorithms, it realizes blood vessel extraction, blood
vessel centerline extraction, blood vessel analysis, removes bones, muscles, and other soft
tissues, leaving only blood vessels.
The subtraction image generates the anatomical information of the blood vessel and the
physical information of the vascular lesion, quantitatively analyzes the extracted blood
vessel, detects stenosis and plaque, and calculates the relevant measurement indicators to
assist diagnosis.

Vascular Analysis (optional)

It observes the anatomical parts and pathological characteristics of the blood vessels of the

head, neck, chest, abdomen, and lower extremities. Automatic and manual tools are used to

evaluate the size of blood vessels, abnormal area sizes, areas, stenosis locations, calcification

indicators and other information.

It automatically extracts carotid artery, abdominal aorta, and lower extremity arterial tissue.

It has automatic, semi-automatic and manual interaction methods for definition and editing

of blood vessel centerline, drawing, and editing of blood vessel contour, definition of stenosis,

plaque, and calcification. It evaluates the diameter and area of the blood vessel, and the

location of the stenosis. Information includes blood vessel cross-sectional area, equivalent

diameter, maximum diameter, minimum diameter, location, reference location name and

contour line, plaque area, total volume, calcified area, as well as total volume.

Stent Planning (optional)


It correctly extracts blood vessel centerline, blood vessel contour information, including
blood vessel cross-sectional diameter, area, statistical information, blood vessel length
between two blood vessel cross-sections, lesion position angle, and blood vessel branch
angle. According to the requirements of the stent manufacturer, it customizes the specific
stent protocol, and then applies to this target vessel to obtain the measurement
information of the stent and provide a reference for the stent plan.

TAVI (optional)
It automatically locates the aortic valve annulus plane, aortic sinus annulus plane, sinus
coronal connection plane, ascending aorta plane, and left and right coronary opening
positions. It automatically calculates the area of the plane, diameter, distance from opening
to annulus plane, C-arm angle, and other information, while providing interactive manual
tools to assist in quantitative analysis of the aortic annulus before surgery.

Automatic segmenting of cardiac images in various phases, and automatic positioning the
myocardium and apex, makes it convenient and intuitive to observe the cardiac structure
and cardiovascular diseases. At the same time, it provides a variety of convenient
interactive tools, such as image rotation and zoom, WL adjustment and opacity
adjustment, to assist detailed analysis and diagnosis.
It displays MPR image, including short-axis image, horizontal long-axis image, vertical
long-axis image, chamber image; volume VR image.
It provides display methods and tools such as layout switching, ventricular reset, cardiac
re-segmentation, 4D playback tools, curve generation and editing, multi-phase comparison,
as well as sending report images.

Cardiac Calcium Score (optional)


It marks the highlighted areas according to the CT threshold, marks the part that needs to
be scored, automatically calculates the calcification score, generates a list of scores, and
effectively evaluates the cardiac calcification score.
Three different algorithms are included: quality integral, Agatston integral, continuous
weighted integral.
The analysis results include the above three integral results and the calcification volume,
average CT value, maximum CT value, minimum CT value of each branch, and the sum
result of each branch.

It provides one-stop automatic coronary artery analysis. It includes automatic

Calculation of related measurements indicators can be displayed in statistical tables.

It automatically segments the heart and its ventricles, automatically calculates the
ventricular function parameters, including ejection fraction, ejection volume and cardiac
output.
It automatically calculates the ventricular contour, 3 bull's eye diagrams, including wall
thickness, wall motion, and wall thickening rate, which assists users on analyzing
ventricular function and evaluating whether there has been ventricular function decline and
dysfunction.
It provides a variety of interactive tools, MPR display including short-axis image window,

FFRct (optional)
FFRct is an analysis application for clinically predicting the decreasing trend of blood flow
pressure in patients with coronary artery stenosis, which is mainly developed by using CT
images bases on the principle of coronary blood flow hydrodynamics and computer
simulation technology.
The analysis results include not only the positioning of coronary artery stenosis and the
quantitative analysis of plaque lesions, but also the physiological and functional evaluation
of the coronary artery to assist more detailed analysis and diagnosis.

Evaluation results include pressure, average pressure, average flow rate, FFR
It can calculate the FFR value of the coronary artery based on segmentation, analysis, and
VR displays. The user can browse the FFR value distribution at any position of the coronary
tree and can also analyze the change of the coronary blood flow pressure, speed, and
influence through the pseudo-color model.

It provides a non-invasive way to measure the peri-coronary fat attenuation index (FAI), to
have the early identification of atherosclerosis, timely detection of vulnerable plaque, and
early intervention.

information of epicardial fat, pericoronary fat and area of interest fat, EATV value and FAI
value.

Based on the analysis of the same layer or multi-layer liver images after the contrast agent
injection, the severity of liver lesions can be evaluated, achieve diagnosis assisting.
It can automatically carry out a series of pre-processing of three sequences, including
image correction, sequence editing, sequence playback and organization extraction.

The hepatic artery, portal vein or splenic artery may be manually selected, and define the
time of perfusion to complete the calculation of perfusion parameters.
It can provide automatic measurement and analysis, quantitative analysis of the ROI area
on the calculated perfusion parameter map, and calculation of related measurement
indicators including hepatic artery perfusion (HAP), portal vein perfusion (PVP), total liver
perfusion (TLP), Hepatic Artery Perfusion Index (HPI), Portal Vein Perfusion Index (PPI) and
Time to Peak (TTP), which are displayed in a table.
It automatically generates a ROI time density curve (TDC) and supports the replacement of

Tumor Analysis (optional)


It extracts tumor, calculates volume, describes morphology, so as to have effective
evaluation and report generation.
For a selected specific tumor, the three-dimensional volume, effective diameter, CT value of
the tumor are automatically calculated, which provides an effective basis for the volume
change rate and doubling time required for tumor comparison in future follow-up
examinations. The calculation adopts international standard RECIST and WHO. It supports
manual tumor extraction, single point extraction, line extraction, contour line modification
and false color processing. It supports tumor fission display, including name, location,
visualization status, add, edit, and delete functions.

Colon Analysis (optional)


Based on the images loaded, a three-dimensional colon can be created to analyze and
locate the lesions in the colon. It supports automatic colon extraction, centerline extraction,
colon flattening, polyp marking and multiple roaming. It supports multiple display modes
such as cross-section and MPR. The lesion information is automatically calculated and
displayed, including volume, size (length, width, height), CT value (maximum, minimum,
average), and position (distance to rectal distance).

Tumor Perfusion (optional)


Based on the analysis of the same layer or multi-layer tumor images after the contrast
agent injection, the severity of tumor lesions can be evaluated.
It can automatically carry out a series of pre-processing on the image, including image
correction, sequence editing, sequence playback and organization extraction.
The artery and the time of perfusion may be manually selected, then the perfusion
parameters will be calculated automatically.
In the TDC window, use the mouse to click on the SP/EP and then drag the mouse to define
the time for perfusion analysis.
After the calculation of the perfusion parameters, it will automatically switch to the
measurement and analysis stage. Measurement analysis mainly performs quantitative
analysis of the ROI area on the calculated perfusion parameter map, and calculates related
measurement indicators, including blood flow map (BV), Blood volume chart (BF), mean
transit time (MTT), peak time (TTP) and surface permeability (PS). These are displayed in a
table. It automatically generates ROI time density curve (TDC) and supports the
replacement of the pseudo-color.

Dental Analysis (optional)


It generates images of the upper and lower jaw and neural tube to assist the oral surgeon
planning of implantation. It supports functions such as defining the main curve of the
tooth, defining the left and right neural tube, generating section lines and cross-sectional
views, helping doctors quickly and accurately locate lesions. It supports manual curve
editing, curve number and curve space adjustment, section line movement, refresh section
line and section image with the movement of the mouse and it updates the position of the
ruler.

Print Modeling (optional)


By combining CT, imaging workstation, third-party CAD engineering software and 3D
printer, it can quickly complete three-dimensional modeling of the target organization, STL
mesh modeling, or STL file output, which can provide training and preoperative planning, or
doctor-patient communication, providing effective support and decision-making assistance.

It receives segmentation results from other applications, and transforms the organization
into a grid model, and then displays and optimizes the grid model through the functions
provided by the function panel such as model classification, model visualization, model
rendering, model post-processing, and model output.

Three model rendering modes: surface, wireframe, and point.


It supports a variety of model processing technologies: smooth, streamline, remove, and
export. Smoothing technology can make the mesh model slacker, and the distribution of
polygon vertices more uniform, resulting in a smoother mesh model. The amount of
smoothing can be controlled by the number of iterations.
Simplification is mainly used to reduce the number of triangles in the mesh model through
algorithms without affecting the geometric shape of the mesh, thereby reducing the size of
the mesh model, and making it easier to process and display. Control of the percentage of
simplification can be realized by setting the simplification rate.
The removal function deletes the unnecessary areas according to the removal rate
parameter specified by the user.
It exports the mesh model in stl format to prepare data files for subsequent slicing and 3D
printing.

Bone Mineral Density Analysis (optional)


Using CT Lumbar or thoracic images, it measures the patient's bone density, the mass of
bone tissue per unit volume (in mg/cc), which helps assess whether the patient’s bone
mass is normal or whether the patient is suffering from osteoporosis. The BMD application
uses the patient’s muscle and fat tissue as internal reference materials. This method can
reduce reproducibility errors when using follow-up examinations to track changes in the
patient’s bone density over time. Finally, the patient's specific vertebral bone density value,
T value and Z value are obtained, and the conclusion is displayed in the interface and
report in the form of a graph.

Fat Analysis (optional)


It Uses CT images to measure the area, volume, and waist circumference of the patient’s
subcutaneous fat and visceral fat and helps assess the degree of obesity of the patient.
It contains two modes: single-layer and multi-layer fat analysis.
In single-layer mode, fat information is extracted and analyzed for a specific layer. After the
image is loaded, the system will automatically select the most characteristic key layer,
finish contour extraction and perform a fat analysis.
The fat information is displayed in the center of the window, includes subcutaneous fat area
(SFA), visceral fat area (VFA), total area (TFA), VFA/TFA ratio, waist circumference and
body mass index (BMI). In this window, you can edit contours, draw manually, and semi-
automatically.

The multi-layer mode extracts and analyzes fat information from the selected starting layer
and ending layer interval. The system automatically selects the most characteristic interval
and extracts the fat and contours. The fat information is displayed in the center of the
window. The fat information includes the subcutaneous fat volume (SFV) in the selected
interval, the visceral fat volume in the selected interval (VFV), the total fat volume (TFV),
the sum of VFV/TFV, and the current subcutaneous fat area (SFA), current visceral fat area
(VFA), total area of the current layer (TFA), VFA/TFA ratio, waist circumference and body
mass index (BMI) of the current layer. The user can see each layer in the selected interval
by adjusting the layer. Contours can be edited manually or semi-automatically.

Dual Energy Analysis (optional)


Based on dual-energy scan images, containing at least two sets of low-kV and high-kV
sequences, it utilizes intelligent image processing techniques to better display the body
parts and interest tissues, so that lesions can be identified more quickly. At the same time,
it provides the functions of single energy image, energy spectrum curve, and intelligent
gout crystal analysis.
Single energy image supports 40keV-210keV, 171 energy levels. Additional functions
include energy spectrum curve, material separation, best CNR calculation, and the shape
and distribution position of gout crystals can also be viewed intuitively, and the volume can

Cloud diagnosis (optional)


The cloud diagnosis function uses Sino Cloud by embedding a browser plug-in in the
workstation to enter the Sino Cloud homepage. Users can log in to Sino Cloud to realize
cloud diagnosis related functions, send difficult diseases data to other doctor for diagnosis,
and obtain diagnosis reports. (Overseas services require local cloud server support)
