1.0 PURPOSE:

The purpose of this method statement is to clarify the works to be carried out for concrete
repair in foundations, culverts, substructures and superstructures etc in areas specified in
approved drawings and specifications.

2.0 SCOPE:
The scope of this Method Statement is to define the procedure, responsibilities and safety requirements
for repair works of concrete elements to be performed in Shah Gas Development Project for plant units
U726,U727,U740,U742 and general area Unit 0230.

3.0 REFERENCE:
3.1 Project Specification for concrete works (DGS-1783-002 )
3.2 Addendum to the Project Specification for concrete works (MP02-0230-17-ADD-083002)
3.3 Project Specification for paving material and construction (DGS-1783-005)
3.4 Addendum to the Project Specification for paving material and construction
(MP02-0230-17-ADD-083005)

4.0 RESPONSIBILITIES:

4.1 It is the responsibility of CM that repair works are executed according to the relevant project
specifications in compliance, vendor recommendation with quality, schedule & safety
requirements.

4.2 CE will ensure that all the works are performed safely as per latest approved for Construction
(IFC) drawings & specifications.

4.3 The QA&QC department will ensure that all work is executed according to PQP (0230-
ZX-E-0D9600) and that requirements of quality dossier are fulfilled.

4.4 Safety and construction supervision will be carried out under responsibility of Subcontractor.

4.0 PROCEDURES:
All loose concrete surfaces (loose partitions and materials) have to be removed until sound
concrete is reached.
The repair shall be in accordance to the DGS-1783-002 Section 22.
Repair shall start until concrete has been fully cured.

4.10 Improper finishing / repair work of top surface of the Concrete:

8.1.1 Before starting any repair works Subcontractor shall inform Contractor and obtain clearance to
proceed the work.
8.1.2 The top surface of concrete elements will be re-profiled by Grinding up to 3mm to 5mm
depth if required.
8.1.3 Rendering the’ top surface of concrete elements using approved repair material.
8.1.4 Any lose mortar on the corners of the concrete elements shall be removed with the help of
grinder and shall be repaired.The finishing surface of the concrete shall be sound,solid and free
from defects.
8.1.5 Any concrete that is damaged or unsound shall be demolished if necessary and shall be
repaired.

8.2 Un-cleaned top surface of insert plate:

8.2.1 The insert-plate shall be cleaned by (buffing) with the help of power brush, without disturbing
the galvanized coating.
8.2.2 Honey Combing area shall be repaired with the approved materials.
8.2.3 The area of honey comb shall be chipped until sound concrete is reached.

8.3 Improper finishing of corners of beam:

8.3.1 To avoid wooden batten impression on top surface of beam extra wooden spacer shall be
introduced to create enough space for free flow of steel trowel.
8.3.2 Before applying any repair material surfaces shall be cleaned by air.

8.4 Minor Cracks:

8.4.1 The Minor Cracks shall be grooved with grinder to ascertain the exact depth of the cracks.
8.4.2 The Groves shall be treated with approved material as per vendor method of application.
8.4.3 For Major cracks, Subcontractor to inform Contractor prior to any repair works. After joint
inspection it will be decided to proceed with the repair or to dismantle/demolish the
element. If repair has to be done, the methodology will be submitted to Company for
approval.
8.5 Honey combs:

8.5.1 All loose material shall be chipped off and area shall be mark with grinder.

8.5.2 The effected area shall be treated with approved material as per vendor method of application

9. QUALITY ASSURANCE & QUALITY CONTROL:-

9.1 The QA/QC department monitor the quality of repair works for concrete elements according to
project specifications (DGS-1783-002 & MP02-0230-17-ADD-083002 and drawings.
9.2 RFI shall be raised by execution supervisor 24 hrs before inspection and test as approved QCP/ITP
witness, hold point and surveillances. RFI shall be logged on and inspection shall be
coordinated with Contractor by Subcontractor QA&QC.

10.0 HSE:

10.1 All necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as well as harness shall be provided in full
accordance with Contractor safety rules for Personal Protective Equipment.
10.2 The work site shall be kept in a clean and tidy condition.
10.3 works shall be undertaken in accordance with Contractor Safety Manual and all
individual operations shall be set up and expedited to ensure that they comply with
Contractor safety requirements and project safety manual.
10.4 Follow Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).
