It started in the 16th century, when the first recollections happened at Cuyo, Palawan, formerly
known as the capital of Palawan before it became Puerto Princesa City, led by missionaries. The director
and superior of the mission was Fr. Juan de Santo Tomas. In this place, the building of the Catholic
church emerged, and 1,000 people were baptized; furthermore, the neighboring municipality was also
converted.

2. Culture

🦠Through the influence of the Spanish settler's long ago, they have successfully imparted Christianity to
us. Christianity shaped our culture in so many ways, including values, norms, beliefs, and practices.
That's why Christianity is also called culture. for example, the festivals we celebrate each year,
mentioning that we have a lot of festivals such as the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Every year on
December 8th, Puerto Princesa celebrates the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary.
Since Palaweno commemorated it and passed it down through generations, it has been called a way of
life for the entire province.

Religion

🦠 Missionaries put a lot of effort into what kind of religion or belief in Christianity we have. Obviously,
Catholicism (Roman Catholic) is more popular in Palawan; next is the Protestant or reformation church,
such as Adventistism, Born Again, and Baptism; yet there are pockets of Muslims due to many early
Malay settlers bringing over their religion.For instance, religious individuals are frequently more inclined
to be conscientious, cautious, trustworthy, diligent, well-organized, and amicable. People who are not
religious typically have more analytical tendencies.

Political Administration

🦠 Some of our laws are enforced under the influence of religion. For an instances, abortion is a grave act
when committed, and Abortion is illegal in the Philippines, a majority Catholic country and former
American colony, and has been for over a century. Under the law, women found to have aborted their
fetuses face prison terms of between two and six years." - CNN Obviously, it is through the influence of
Christianity.

3. It is a place where my childhood memories are reminiscences, known for having the longest white
beach in the Philippines with 14 kilometers of length, where my home is located nearby, lots of coconut
trees, rich in festivals, and a unique language, specifically "Agutaynen". The municipality of San Vicente
was created on June 21, 1969, by virtue of Republic Act 5821, signed by President Ferdinand Marcos.
And chose Saint Vincent Ferrer as the patron saint of the barrio and the origin of its name, now known
as San Vicente ".

4. To keep in mind, the majority of Christian holidays are based on significant occasions or events in
Jesus' life. These holidays aid Christians in remembering the spiritual value or relevance of these
occasions.

As a Palaweno who truly respects religion, it is also an act of reverence to the only God who created the
vast universe and all that is in it.
