2: Hazard(s) Identification
Classification: If Pressurized - Gases Under Pressure

Signal Word: Warning

Hazard Statement: Fire extinguishers contain liquid and gas under pressure.
Overheating and over pressurizing may cause gas release or
violent bursting. A fire extinguisher could still have pressure in
it even if the indicator gauge is in the 0-psi range.
Simple asphyxia.

Appearance: Gold / Brown liquid substance

Physical State: Liquid
Odor: Low Earthy Odor

Precautionary Statements: Prevention – Wear gloves and eye protection.

Response – Immediately flush eyes with clean water for 15
minutes or wash skin with plenty of soap and water. Seek
immediate medical advice or attention if irritation persists.
Storage – Store in original container, sealed in a well-ventilated
place.

3: Composition / Information on Ingredients
Chemical Name CAS No. Weight - %
Vermiculite 1318-00-9 5-20%
Water 7732-18-5 80-95%
Rheology modifiers and syneresis control agent N/A <1%
Helium 7440-59-7 <1%
Nitrogen 7727-37-9 <1%
Note: Pressurized extinguisher uses nitrogen (possible traces of helium, purity-dependent) as expellant.

4: First Aid Measures

Eye Contact: Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at
least 15 minutes. If symptoms occur, consult a physician, preferably
an ophthalmologist.

Skin Contact: In case of contact and irritation, wash affected skin with plenty of
soap and water. If irritation persists, immediately call a POISON
CENTER or physician.

Inhalation: Remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately.

If not breathing, call 911 and give artificial respiration.
If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical aid.

Ingestion: No known adverse effects for small quantities. For large quantities,
wash out mouth with water and give water to drink. Do not induce
vomiting. If gastrointestinal symptoms occur, seek medical advice.

Symptoms: May cause temporary irritation of the skin and/or eyes.

Note to Physician: Treat symptomatically.

5: Fire-Fighting Measures
Suitable Extinguishing Media: Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local
circumstances and the surrounding environment.

Unsuitable Extinguishing Media: Not Determined.

Specific Hazards Arising from the Product is not flammable and will not burn.
Chemical:

Protective Equipment and Precautions for As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus pressure-
Firefighters: demand, as well as NIOSH (approved or equivalent) and full
protective gear. To prevent pressure build-up, water may be used to
cool containers. Evacuate area and fight fire from safe distance.

6: Accidental Release Measures
Personal Protective Equipment: Minimum – nitrile gloves, slip-resistant shoes
See section 8 for more
Personal Precautions: Use personal protective equipment listed, as required.
For Emergency Responders: Use personal protective equipment. Spilt material may be a slip
hazard.
Environmental Precautions: Prevent large quantities of product from entering drains, sewers, or
waterways.
Methods for Containment: Use absorbent cleaning materials to prevent further leaking or
spilling if area is safe.
Methods for Clean-up: Contain and absorb excess liquid with absorbent cleaning materials.
If dried to surface, carefully remove with paint scraper.
Keep waste in suitable, closed containers for disposal.

7: Handling and Storage

Advice on Safe Handling: Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety
practice. Use personal protection recommended in Section 8.

Storage Conditions: Store in original packaging. Protect packaging from damage. Reseal
lids when not in use. Store between 5°C and 25°C (41°F and 77°F)
whenever possible to prevent freezing or evaporation of water in
mixture.
Packaging may be damaged by freezing of AVD.
AVD is not damaged by freezing, but it will need to be re-
homogenized (stirred) after thawing.
Incompatible Materials:
Aluminum and raw/galvanized steel.

8: Exposure Controls / Personal Protection

Exposure Guidelines: As supplied, this product does not contain any hazardous materials
with occupational exposure limits established by the region-specific
regulatory bodies.

Engineering Controls: Local dust extraction (for aerosol particles or dust from dried
product).

Eye / Face Protection: To avoid eye contact, use chemical splash/impact-resistant goggles.

Skin and Body Protection: Wear nitrile or similar material gloves, and long sleeves to avoid
splashing onto skin. Wash contaminated clothing prior to reuse.
Respiratory Protection: In cases of prolonged exposure to airborne dust or aerosol, wear
NIOSH-approved respiratory protective equipment.
General Hygiene Considerations: Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety
practice.
