In the weighted sum approach, we scale our set of goals into a single goal by multiplying each

of our objectives by a user-supplied weight. This method is one of the most widely used
approaches. In this approach, each criterion is assigned a weight representing its relative
importance in the decision-making process. The options are then rated or scored on each
criterion, and the weighted scores are summed up to obtain a final score for each alternative.
The alternative with the highest final score is considered the best choice. Pros: Simple to
understand and implement and require minimal expertise. But the major drawback is it
cannot handle complex scenarios and it is subjective in nature.

The AHP method is a decision-making technique that involves structuring a problem

hierarchically, establishing criteria and alternatives, and pairwise comparing them based on
their relative importance. Through a mathematical process, AHP computes priority weights
for alternatives, aiding in informed decision-making. Advantages : AHP helps break down
complex problems into a hierarchical structure and assigns relative weights to criteria to
determine the best course of action.
