Manuel Roxas was a Filipino lawyer and politician who
served as the fifth president of the Philippines from 1946
until his death in 1948. He was also the third and the last
president of the Commonwealth of the Philippines, from
May to July 1946, after which the Philippines got its
independence from the U.S. rule and turned into a
republic.

WILLIAM H O W A R D T A F T

William Howard Taft was elected the 27th President of the

United States (1909-1913) and later became the tenth Chief
Justice of the United States (1921-1930), the only person to
have served in both of these offices.William Howard Taft
was the first head of the Philippine Commission from March
16, 1900 until July 4, 1901, after which the commission's head
also became the Civil Governor of the Philippines.

He was the first Filipino to head a government of the entire

Philippines (as opposed to the government of previous
Philippine states), and is considered to have been the
second president of the Philippines, after Emilio Aguinaldo
(1899–1901), whom Quezon defeated in the 1935
presidential election.

Sergio Osmena was a Filipino lawyer and

politician who served as the fourth president of
the Philippines from 1944 to 1946. He was vice
president under Manuel L. Quezon.
