Definition:

Multiplication is one of the four basic arithmetic operations, the others being
addition, subtraction, and division. It is the process of combining groups of equal
amounts.
Symbols and Terms:

The symbol for multiplication is often represented as "×", "*", or as a dot "·".
Multiplicand: The number being multiplied.
Multiplier: The number by which multiplicand is being multiplied.
Product: The result of multiplication.
Properties of Multiplication:

Commutative Property: The order in which numbers are multiplied does not change the
product.

Associative Property: Grouping of numbers does not affect the product.
