First Group Activity in Purposive Communication

(based on the 22-minute video on Communication and Its Elements)

1. What is communication?

Activity

Conceptualize any activity to be performed or presented for the profound explanations of

the definitions of communication. These activities may be a panel discussion, radio drama,
role play, skit, among others. The presentation should not go beyond 10 minutes.

2. What is communication climate and culture?

Activity

a. Define communication climate and culture.

b. Interview a certain head of an organization/company and ask him/her the following

questions:

1. What is the culture of your organization?

2. Do you think cultures (communication climate) can be created? Modified?
Changed?

Note:
The interview should be documented through a video or an audio, and it
should be presented in the conference. Then, students need to include
their generalization or conclusion for the interview.

c. In the school where you are currently enrolled, what is the prevailing organizational
culture? What are some of the practices that you observe? Expound your answer.

3. What is the communication process? What are the communication barriers?

Activity

Form a group of four members, and role-play a situation in the workplace where effective
communication is put into question. Make sure that someone explains the situation first
before the group makes the presentation. Please integrate the answers for the two questions
