Tekla Version Requirement: 20.1

Please perform the following steps in setting up the Dynamic Joist:

1) Copy the “NMBS” folder and its contents to:

<Drive>:\<Tekla Structures Folder>\20.1\nt\bin\plugins\

2) Copy the contents of the “BMPS” folder to:

<Drive>:\<Tekla Structures Folder>\20.1\nt\bitmaps\

3) Modify the Tekla profile table to enable parametric L shapes:

- Open the following file in Notepad:
Folder: <Drive>:\<Tekla Structures Folder>\20.1\environments\usimp\profil\
File: profitab.inp
* Warning: Depending on the installation, the above folder could be in a different location.

- Remove the “/*” characters before the “L” shape under steel shapes:
o Before: /*L !L ! ! ! 2! 3! ! !
o After: L !L ! ! ! 2! 3! ! !

- Save the file.

* Note: An example file has been provided with this package located in the “Profile” folder.
* Warning: A bug in Tekla Structures has been identified when enabling parametric L shapes. It could
cause Tekla Structures to crash. Tekla is currently looking into the issue. The current fix is to
disable one of the other less used parametric shapes in the “profitab.inp” file. The recommended
shape to disable is the “EW” shape. Please see the example below:

4) Restart Tekla Structures

5) Copy the project support files to any projects using Dynamic Joist®.
 - Copy the “NMBS_Joist.txt” file in the “Project” folder to:
<Drive>:\<Model Folder>\<Project Folder>\

- Copy the contents of the “Project\Attributes” folder to:

<Drive>:\<Model Folder>\<Project Folder>\Attributes\

Note: Dynamic Joist® should now be available in the component catalog. It is labeled as “NMBS Dynamic Joist”.
Warning:

The security built within the Windows operating system could prevent Tekla Structures from loading the
Dynamic Joist® component. If you received errors when trying to load the component, please follow these
steps for a possible solution.

1) Close Tekla Structures.

2) Navigate to the folder containing the Dynamic Joist® plugin:

ƒ <Drive>:\<Tekla Structures Folder>\20.1\nt\bin\plugins\NMBS\

3) Right click on the following file:

ƒ NMBS Dynamic Joist.dll

4) Click on “Properties” from the menu.

5) If the file has been blocked, an “Unblock” button will be present in the attributes section.

6) Click the “Unblock” button.

7) Click the “Apply” button.

8) Click the “OK” button.

9) Start Tekla Structures and try loading the Dynamic Joist® plugin.
