Eveline is a 19-year-old girl who finds life in 20th-century Dublin unbearable. She is a
dutiful daughter, who takes care of her family, especially her father, who is often drunk and
abusive

Conflict:
Eveline struggles to separate herself from religious and familial obligations
Plot:
Eveline focuses on a young Irish woman of nineteen years of age, who plans to leave her
abusive father and poverty-stricken existence in Ireland, and seek out a new, better life
for herself and her lover Frank in Buenos Aires.

Climax:
when Frank and Eveline are in line for the boat. When the bell rings and Frank grabs her
hand, Eveline panics. She grabs the iron rails and simply will not let go. It's almost not as
though she is choosing to stay, but that her life has conditioned her to never do something so
irrevocable.
