EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

A. ABSTRACT

Despite mental health awareness and services were increasing throughout the Philippines, there were
still substantial gaps in the availability of mental health care facilities and resources, particularly in rural
regions such as Rodriguez in Rizal province. Anxiety, depression, and other illnesses can have a
substantial impact on individuals and communities, and it is critical for communities to have access to
competent mental health treatments. However, there were obstacles such as stigma, a lack of money,
and a lack of mental health specialists and facilities. The Philippines' Mental Health Act, passed into law
in 2018, sought to address some of these challenges by increasing mental health awareness and
incorporating mental health services into the country's healthcare system. This law fostered the
construction of community-based mental health services. The pandemic is one of the most significant
factors that contribute to an individual's psychological and mental well-being which highlighted the
government's need to invest in more health-care facilities. The pandemic put enormous strain on the
healthcare sector, with hospitals and medical facilities dealing with an influx of cases. Hospital bed
availability, medical supplies, and healthcare staff burnout were all issues. Rodriguez, as the most
populous municipality in the Philippines, would undoubtedly benefit from a general medical center that
would meet their needs without requiring them to go to adjacent cities for assistance. With this issue in
mind, the designer chose to devise a solution that will aid in not only providing normal medical services
to the public but also stressing and emphasizing the mental health of individuals. The spaces provided
by the facility must meet all of the needs of potential users while providing the greatest services
available with the assistance of professionals. The design of the facilities also contributes to the user's
well-being.

B. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study helps to meet the health care needs of the citizens of Rodriguez, Rizal, and their
surrounding towns without requiring them to go to other places. The distance, travel time, and
transportation costs place unjustifiable burdens on the poor, discouraging them from seeking necessary
medical care.
