The document is a letter to Mr. Nageswara Rao about a leak in the gutters in Pondicherry. It summarizes observations from a site visit, noting that downspout joints have corroded, allowing water to overflow from gutters. It also saw that FRP plastic had separated from corroded steel in some areas. Calculations were done to check gutter capacity for a 100mm/hr rainfall.

With reference to the above and our site visit dated 30.9.20, the following are our observations:
1. There is a over flow of water in the gutter, mostly in the areas
where the down take pipes are provided. 2. Down take pipe and gutter joints have got corroded and flow is happening from those joints. 3. In some places, the FRP plastic provided over the corroded steel gutter have got separated. 4. There is slight sag observed in the gutter and due to which water may not flow through the down take pipe. 5. Rainfall that happened on 28.9.20 may be around 60mm/hr for 35 minutes. 6. Even though data shows that in last 29 years maximum rainfall of 75mm/hr is recorded only once, We decided to check gutter capacity for 100mm/hr. 7. The calculations for the same and the recommendations to be followed are attached with this mail.
