Speaking to reporters
here on Sunday, he said that
Industries Minister Muru-
gesh Nirani had issued a
baselessstatementexpress-
ing doubts over the death of
a car driver in Vijayapura.
The incident of car driv-
er’sdeathshouldbereferred
to the CBI for a probe with-
in 24 hours to clear the air.
Otherwise,theministerwho
expressed doubts should be
thrown out of the cabinet,
he said.
Yatnal said the BJP sen-
iors have advised him not to
respondtoanycontroversial
statements.Theyhavecalled
him to Delhi for discussing

he Krishi Mela held for
three days at the Uni-
versity of Agricultural
Sciences here received good
response. Farmers, seeds,
fertilisers and agriculture
equipment dealers, students
and general public visited the
university and participated in
the three-day mega fair.
The Mela helped provide
information on the new agri-
culture technology to farming
community, said Vice-Chan-
cellor M Hanumanthappa.
Speaking at the valedictory of
the Mela, he said that the Kri-
shi Mela provided a platform
for the farmers to share their
experiences and also to know
technological innovations.
People from various parts of
the state visited the university.
Agriculture Department offi-
cials lauded the efforts in or-
ganising such an even, he said.

the government hospital
in the City on Friday following
the incident in which a woman
died after drinking contami-
nated water and many fell ill.
HeinspectedRanipetandin-
quired about the health of the
residents. He collected infor-
mation on the supply of clean
drinkingwaterintankers,med-
ical treatment and medicines
providedtotheaffectedpeople
andthemakeshiftmedicalcen-
tre set up in the locality.
Later, he visited the 100-
bed government hospital and
inquiredaboutthehealthofthe
patients being treated there.
He interacted with patients
who suffered from gastroen-
teritis after drinking water at
Ranipet.
Many people fell ill after
drinking contaminated water.
The drinking water problem
should be resolved within a
month,heinstructedtheCMC
officials.DistrictHealthOfficer

were present.
As many as 24 people of
elderly people, came in droves
to the parade ground and NV
ground from 5 am. Despite
thebone-chillingcold,theysat
facing north on the spacious
ground and practiced yoga en-
thusiastically for 45 minutes.
Thousands of students,
teachers and yoga trainers
from schools and colleges
worked for the success of the
programme.NSS,NCC,Scouts
& Guides cadets volunteered
for the disciplined conduct of
the event.
MLC Shashil G Namoshi,
who inaugurated the Yogath-
on, said participating in yoga
session for one day and creat-
ing a record is not important
but practicing it everyday
should be the motto, he said.

exhibited at the Krishi
Mela in University of
Agricultural Sciences at-

of this three-year-old male
buffalo is claimed to be Rs
9 lakh. Farmer Srinivas
Reddy of Sirguppa in Bal-
lari district is the owner of
this buffalo. The university
has honoured him with
the best farmer award this
time.
He is rearing murrah

Mela would be organised and
farmers would be encouraged
to cultivate better crops and
increase the yield, he said.
