Method Statement for Painting Application
1. GENERAL
The method statement for PAINTING APPLICATION WORK in 5000 Construction village at GoA North
controlled by NESMA, according to the specifications as well as consultant’s/client instructions.
2. SCOPE
This method statement provides the guidance to be followed to be for all hand. Painting application
works activities within the project area, ensuring full compliance all relevant drawings and
International Codes related to Painting Application works.
3. REFERENCES
In this Method Statement (as hereinafter defined) the following words and expressions shall have
the meanings hereby assigned to them.
➢ The Client’ means NESMA AL AQABA CITY COMPANY LTD and its legal successors.
➢ The Consultant or the Engineer means the firm or company named by the Client to act as
‘Consultant’ for the design and supervision of construction, who is NESMA AL AQABA CITY
COMPANY LTD, including its representatives, successors and permitted assigns.
➢ The Contractor’ means NESMA has been nominated by the Client and the legal successors to
execute the work.
➢ The Subcontractor’ means any company who will execute a particular part of the work under
control and supervision of the Main Contractors.

5. RESPONSIBILITIES
NESMA Site Engineers have the responsibility to ensure that the work is fully coordinated with other on a
day to day basis. NESMA Site Engineer have the responsibilities for organizing and supervising the
transportation of the materials to in co-ordination with the other departments to ensure that the hoists,
cranes and the platforms are efficiently allocated and utilized. NESMA Site Engineers will also ensure that
approved and agreed safety practices and procedures are fully implemented.
5.4 QA / QC Manager:
NESMA QA/QC Manager will check/Involve a strict internal quality control and inspection to ensure that
the work is executed fully in accordance with the requirements of the contract specifications and
drawings.
5.5 QC Inspector:
NESMA QC Inspector will be responsible for all the quality control procedures. QC Engineer has
responsibility for ensuring full compliance with the prescribed QC requirements including the submission
of inspection requests. NESMA QC Inspectors will operate inspection regime to ensure that the work is
executed fully in accordance with the requirements of the contract specifications and drawings prior to
inspection requests being submitted to the Consultant to minimize the need for re-inspections.
5.6 Safety Manager:
NESMA Safety Manager has the responsibility for ensuring that NESMA staff are complying with the
requirements of the approved safety plan and procedures, including carrying out routine safety audits and
toolbox meetings, submitting of the necessary equipment test certificates, routine checks of the
equipment’s and getting the approval before the commencement for using and participating to the
regular safety meetings.

5.7 Surveyor:
NESMA Surveyor under the direction of the nominated Site Engineer has the responsibility to establish the
main reference and levels to check the same at regular intervals.
5.8 Supervisors / Foreman:
NESMA Supervisors have the direct overall responsibility for the supervision of their allocated area
including the direct supervision of the fixers and labors involved and the strict implementation of safety
rules and procedures.
7.2.1 Prior to starting paint application on Blockwork, Plastered Concrete surface & Gypsum board
surface. The substrate shall be carefully checked and the surface shall be clean, dry, smooth & free from
any oil, grease, protruding nail or sharp edges, correct plumpness, alignment and level within
acceptable tolerance.
7.2.2 Any honey combing, small cracks shall be repaired using approved material and
masonry joints shall be flushed. All adjacent area shall be covered by plastic and masking
tape.

7.2.3 Expansion and contraction joint shall be clear and mark off prior to painting work. The
surface of concrete should be dry before painting applications.
7.2.4 All substrates to coated with painting application have any projections, mortar spatter or
uneven surfaces shall be leveled by grinding or scraping.
7.2.5 wood surfaces shall be cleaned of all dirt, dust, grease, oil and other foreign
materials. Any high resign areas subject to bleeding through the paint coating shall be
sealed with sealer/stain killer before painting.
7.2.6 Dry wall Gypsum board shall tape and floated and have one coat of texture paint shall
have applied with a stippling roller to give a fine sand finish prior to painting acrylic latex wall
paint.
7.3.2Paints shall have mixed and thinned in strict accordance and as per manufacturers
recommendations. Weather conditions shall be considered application shall not be applied if it
foggy, wet and dusty.
7.3.3 Moisture contents of the surface within the limit recommended by paint
manufacturer prior to start application. Atmospheric relative humidity shall be less than 85%
during surface preparation for coating.
7.3.4 After application of primer, Surface preparation of succeeding coat. Succeeding coat may
be applied by brush, roller or spraying equipment’s. Keep all brushes, roller and spraying
equipment clean and free from contaminants.
7.3.5 Visually inspect each coat for defects and uniform appearance. All coats shall be inspected
prior for application of succeeding coats. Additional coats shall be applied until color and
textured to be match.
7.3.6 All coats shall be exact the same as per approved mock up sample provided by the
Painting subcontractor.
7.3.7 All painting shall be free from tears run, blister, thin patches ragged edges or peel effect.
7.3.8 All relevant painting work ensure the work is carried out in conformance with project
specification and approved ITP and submit for inspection on all stages of work.

8. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
8.1 All regulation and safety precaution which stated clearly in the approved hazard
identification plan will be mandatory required to achieve, implement and followed which
include approved project HSE plan.
8.2 All personnel involved will use appropriate PPE as required such as safety helmet, glasses, coverall
shoes, gloves, ear plugs etc. Rubber gloves, white disposable coverall & gumboots to be
provided for those handling worker & workers involved in concrete activity.
8.3 The workers will have made aware of the safety requirements related to this activity through
daily STA meeting.
8.4 All required work permits will be acquired and kept available at respective work site
hanged clearly in plastic folders.
8.7 Supervisory personnel or other qualified staff must always be present at the work site while
any work is in progress.
8.8 All accident, incident, first aid cases and near misses shall be reported immediately to
NESMA HSE management.
8.10 All barriers will be inspected daily by task supervisor to ensure they are in good state of
repair. The supervisor shall repair all defects immediately.
8.11 NESMA shall maintain the approved project HSE plan at the worksite.
