ORE MINERALS

 Hematite, also spelled as haematite, is a

common iron oxide compound with the
formula, Fe₂O₃ and is widely found in
rocks and soils. Hematite crystals belong
to the rhombohedra lattice system which
is designated the alpha polymorph of Fe
₂O ₃. It has the same crystal structure as
corundum and ilmenite.
 used to produce pigments, preparations
for heavy media separation, radiation
shielding, ballast, and many other
products.
 Magnetite is a mineral and one of the
main iron ores, with the chemical formula
Fe²⁺Fe³⁺₂O₄. It is one of the oxides of iron,
and is ferromagnetic; it is attracted to a
magnet and can be magnetized to
become a permanent magnet itself.
 use is as an important iron ore for steel
manufacture. Other applications are as a
catalyst in the Haber process for making
ammonia, as a pigment for paints and
ceramics, and as magnetic micro- and
nanoparticles for a variety of processes
and materials.
 Bornite, also known as peacock ore, is a
sulfide mineral with chemical composition
Cu₅FeS₄ that crystallizes in the
orthorhombic system
 Bornite is suitable only for cabochons.

GEMS MINERALS
 Quartz is the second most abundant
mineral in Earth's crust after feldspar. It
occurs in nearly all acid igneous,
metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks. It is
an essential mineral in such silica-rich
felsic rocks as granites, granodiorites, and
rhyolites.
 Quartz clocks and quartz watches are
timepieces that use an electronic
oscillator regulated by a quartz crystal to
keep time.
 Diamond is one of the best-known and
most sought-after gemstones. They have
been used as decorative items since
ancient times.
 Topaz is a silicate mineral of
aluminium and fluorine with the
chemical formula Al₂SiO₄(F, OH)₂. It is
used as a gemstone in jewelry and
other adornments. Common topaz in
its natural state is colorless, though
trace element impurities can make it
pale blue or golden brown to yellow
orange.
 a mineral consisting of a silicate of
beryllium and aluminum that has
great hardness and occurs in crystals
of a variety of colors.

 Clay minerals are hydrous aluminium

phyllosilicates sometimes with
variable amounts of iron,
magnesium, alkali metals, alkaline
earths, and other cations.
 lay minerals are excellent as
clarifiers, absorption and adsorption
materials. They are used in many
industrial applications such as paper,
paint, petroleum, ceramic, cement,
adhesive, asphalt, and food and
health-care industry
 Baryte, barite or barytes is a mineral
consisting of barium sulfate. Baryte is
generally white or colorless, and is
the main source of the element
barium.
 Barite is the main ore of the element
barium. It is also important in the
manufacture of paper and rubber.
 Limestone is a type of carbonate
sedimentary rock which is the main
source of the material lime.
