B. Choose 1 significant event during the Pre Colonial, Colonial and Post-Colonial periods that
you think are the most significant during those times. Explain your answer by using 1 to 2
sentences per historical period.

HISTORICAL PERIODS SIGNIFICANT EVENTS EXPLAINATION

The early Filipinos construct their
PRE-COLONIAL shelters in different areas according to
their lifestyle and source of living and
form their own community, system of
education and religious belief.
The early Filipinos were situated along
the seashores, streams, rivers,
forests, fertile land areas and even in
caves. In water areas they look for
fish, shells and pearls as their source
of living. They also used boat and craft
as there means of transportation for
an easier travel and carrying their
goods for trade from one place to
another. For those people located in
land areas they cultivate the land and
plant rice, bananas and crops. After
the harvest they no longer use the
area indeed they just move to another
place with less grass and fine soil and
abundant of trees where they can start
farming again. During pre-colonial
period, the focus of education was
the survival, conformity, and
enculturation by means of informal
education, practical, and theoretical
training. There was already an
indigenous spiritual traditions
practiced by the people in the

COLONIAL As there are colonizers or
circumnavigation happened in the
Philippines during this colonial
period Filipino people began to have
an education and religion such as
Christianity.
POST COLONIAL The Philippine economy improved
during the colonial period, as there
are established governing rules on
acquiring basic education among
Filipinos and several Christian
religion arised.

collection of beliefs and cultural mores
anchored in the idea that the world is
inhabited by spirits and supernatural
entities.
Though agriculture was the main
source of livelihood for most people,
yet, the country's economy was
characterised by various kinds of
manufacturing activities.
During the early years of Spanish
colonization, education was mostly
run by the Church. Spanish friars
and missionaries educated the
natives and converted indigenous
populations to the Catholic faith.
There is an increase in the
agricultural production in the
Philippines as some are able to make
fewer inventions for farming.
The goal of basic education was to
provide the school age population
and young adults with skills,
knowledge, and values to become
caring, self-reliant, productive, and
patriotic citizens. As much as
Filipinos love beliefs and culture, this
time they are more on having
religion.
