Participants will have 5 minutes to present how their


efforts or ideas will effectively reduce violence in our
community by addressing issues faced by 12-24 year-
olds

Winners will be determined based on the


connections between their initiatives and SAFE's
Peace pillars, the Police Department's Strategic plan,
and/or the City's strategic plan

Non-profit organizations and individuals are eligible to submit an idea for SAFE funding. We'll fund up to five
organizations up to $10,000 each. We prioritize funding for projects that focus on intervention and interruption
strategies in the areas of domestic violence, mental health, counseling, parenting, mentorship, and employment.
While we do accept proposals for recreational activities, they should demonstrate a strong correlation with
reducing issues in the previously mentioned categories to be considered in this funding round. All pitches that
involve additional partners must include representatives of those partners participation in the pitch. All attendees are
strongly advised to preview their pitches with City staff on October 11 at City Hall (300 Monroe Ave NW, Grand Rapids,
MI 49503), 6th floor Conference Room 601, from 1-4 pm. Contact 616-456-3497 for more information.

If your application is selected, you'll have 5 minutes to show your idea is effective in reducing violence in our
community. Make sure your idea addresses issues that 12-24 year-olds face and share how your idea is connected to the
five pillars of SAFE, the Police Department's Strategic Plan, and/or the City's Strategic Plan. A panel of judges will review
proposals and applications. Judges will also ask follow-up questions of the pitches the night of the event. All applications
are due by October 4, 2023.
