STATEMENT OF FAITH

1. GOD
We believe in one God (Deuteronomy 6:4), Creator of all things (Genesis 1:1-31), holy (Psalm
99:5), infinitely perfect (Deuteronomy 32:4), and eternally existing (Deuteronomy 33:27) in a
loving unity of three equally divine Persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (John 1:1-3,
Acts 5:1-4). Having limitless knowledge (Psalm 139:1-6, 15-16; 1 John 3:20) and sovereign
power (Isaiah 48:11, Daniel 4:34-35), God has graciously purposed from eternity to redeem a
people for Himself (Titus 2:14) and to make all things new for His own glory (Revelation 21:5).

2. THE BIBLE
We believe that God has spoken in the Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16), both Old and New
Testaments, through the words of human authors (2 Peter 1:20-21). As the verbally inspired
Word of God, the Bible is without error in the original writings (Psalm 12:6), the complete
revelation of His will for salvation (2 Timothy 3:15), and the ultimate authority by which every
realm of human knowledge and endeavor should be judged (Hebrews 4:12). Therefore, it is to
be believed in all that it teaches (2 Timothy 3:14-16), obeyed in all that it requires (John
14:15), and trusted in all that it promises (Proverbs 3:5-6).

3. MANKIND
We believe that God created Adam and Eve in His image (Genesis 1:27), but they sinned when
tempted by Satan (Genesis 3:6-7). In union with Adam, human beings are sinners by nature
and by choice (Romans 5:12), alienated from God (Romans 3:23, Colossians 1:21), and under
His wrath (Ephesians 2:1-3). Only through God’s saving work in Jesus Christ can we be rescued,
reconciled and renewed (John 3:36, 14:6; Acts 4:12).

4. JESUS CHRIST
We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate (John 1:1,14), fully God and fully man (Hebrews
4:15, 1 John 4:2), one Person in two natures. Jesus—Israel's promised Messiah (Acts 2:36) —
was conceived through the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:34-35) and born of the virgin Mary (Luke 2:7).
He lived a sinless life (Hebrews 4:15), was crucified under Pontius Pilate (John 19:16-22), arose
bodily from the dead (John 20:1-9), ascended into heaven (Acts 1:9) and sits at the right hand
of God the Father as our High Priest and Advocate (Hebrews 10:12-13).
5. THE WORK OF CHRIST
We believe that Jesus Christ, as our representative (2 Corinthians 5:21) and substitute (Isaiah
53:4-6), shed His blood on the cross (Hebrews 9:22) as the perfect (John 1:29), all-sufficient
sacrifice for our sins (Matthew 20:28). His atoning death and victorious resurrection (John
20:1-9) constitute the only ground for salvation (Hebrews 9:12, Acts 4:12).

6. THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit, in all that He does, glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ (John 15:26).
He convicts the world of its guilt (John 16:8). He regenerates sinners (Titus 3:5), and in Him
they are baptized into union with Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13) and adopted as heirs in the
family of God (Romans 8:16-17). He also indwells (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), illuminates
(Ephesians 1:17-18), guides (John 16:13), equips and empowers believers for Christ-like living
and service (1 Corinthians 12:4-7).

7. THE CHURCH
We believe that the true church comprises all who have been justified by God's grace
through faith alone in Christ alone (1 Corinthians 12:13, Ephesians 2:8-9). They are united by
the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ, of which He is the Head (Ephesians 1:22-23). The true
church is manifest in local churches, whose membership should be composed only of believers
(Galatians 1:1-2). The Lord Jesus mandated two ordinances, baptism (Matthew 28:19-20) and
the Lord’s Supper (1 Corinthians 11:23-28), which visibly and tangibly express the gospel.
Though they are not the means of salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9), when celebrated by the church
in genuine faith, these ordinances confirm and nourish the believer (Acts 2:46-47).

8. CHRISTIAN LIVING
We believe that God's justifying grace must not be separated from His sanctifying power and
purpose (John 17:18-19). God commands us to love Him supremely (Mark 12:28-30) and
others sacrificially (Mark 12:31), and to live out our faith with care for one another (Galatians
6:10), compassion toward the poor (Matthew 19:21) and justice for the oppressed (Isaiah
1:17). With God’s Word (Hebrews 4:12), the Spirit’s power (Acts 1:8), and fervent prayer in
Christ’s name (Ephesians 6:18, 1 Thessalonians 5:17), we are to combat the spiritual forces of
evil (Ephesians 6:12). In obedience to Christ’s commission (Matthew 28:18-20), we are to
make disciples among all people, always bearing witness to the gospel in word and deed (Acts
1:8).
9. CHRIST’S RETURN
We believe in the personal, bodily and glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ (Revelation
22:20). The coming of Christ, at a time known only to God (Matthew 24:36), demands hopeful
expectancy (Philippians 3:20) and, as our blessed hope (Titus 2:13), motivates the believer to
godly living (Titus 2:11-13), sacrificial service (Luke 9:24), and energetic mission (Matthew
28:18-20, Acts 1:8, 2 Corinthians 5:20).

10. HUMAN RESPONSE AND ETERNAL DESTINY

We believe that God commands everyone everywhere to believe the gospel (John 3:16) by
turning to Him in repentance (Acts 17:30-31) and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9-
10). We believe that God will raise the dead bodily (1 Corinthians 15:42-49) and judge the
world (2 Corinthians 5:10), assigning the unbeliever to condemnation and eternal conscious
punishment (2 Thessalonians 1:9, Matthew 25:41, Revelation 21:8) and the believer to eternal
blessedness and joy with the Lord in the new heaven and the new earth, to the praise of His
glorious grace (Revelation 21:1-7, 22:1-5). AMEN.
