Willyn, please lead the
prayer.
Our Father, Who art in Our Father, Who art in
heaven, hallowed be Thy heaven, hallowed be Thy
name; Thy kingdom come; name; Thy kingdom
Thy will be done on earth come; Thy will be done
as it is in heaven. Give us on earth as it is in heaven.
this day our daily bread; Give us this day our daily
and forgive us our bread; and forgive us our
trespasses as we forgive trespasses as we forgive
those who trespass against those who trespass
us; and lead us not into against us; and lead us
temptation, but deliver us not into temptation, but
from evil. Amen. deliver us from evil.
Amen.

 Greetings
Good morning class. Good morning, ma`am!

Before you take your sit,

please pick up those pieces (student will pick those
of plastic and paper under pieces of plastic and
your chair. papers under their chair.)

You may now take your

seat.

 Attendance
Is anyone absent today?
None ma`am!
That is good to hear!

1. Review Inquiry based approach

Last time we talked about

the movements of the
Earth. Please give one. Revolution/Rotation.

Exactly how many hours

does the Earth take to
complete its rotation on its
axis? 23 hrs. and 56 min.

What is its effect? Day and night.

What about revolution? Year.

How many days does it
take to complete a year of
revolution? 365 days.

2. Motivation 5 E’s in teaching science

We are going to watch a

short video clip. I’m going
to ask you a questions
after watching the video:

(Present the video)

3. Presentation of the Inquiry based approach

topic

1.What is the video all About solar system.

about?

2.What did you see on the Planets.

video? Sun.

3.Based on the video, what

do you think is the new
lesson that we are going to
study this morning?
Solar system.
That’s great!
Our lesson today is about
Solar System.

(paste the topic)

We have a goal to achieve

after our lesson end.

(paste the goal on the

board)

Please read our goals.

1. define the solar
system;
2. identify the
members of the
solar system
based on its
characteristics;
3. describe the inner
planets in the
solar system.

Do you think we can

achieve this goal? Yes.

How can we achieve this We should pay attention

goal? and listen.

Very good.

B. Developmental 5 E’s in teaching science

Phase

1. Activity

Now, we are going to have

an activity.
I will divide you into two
groups, this will be the
group 1 and this will be
the group 2. Each group
must have a leader,
secretary and reporter if no
one will volunteer I will be
the one to choose,
understood? Yes Ma’am.

*distribute the activity

card*

Group 1
- Inside the envelope
are strips of paper with the
name of inner planets.
- Sort the planets
according to the given
descriptions on small
strips of paper.
- Paste each strip on
the table in column form
headed by the planet name
and its picture.

Group 2
- Inside the envelope
are the inner planets and
their pictures.
- Name each planet
and arrange them around
the sun in correct order.
- Post your work on
the board

Each group will be given

10 minutes to finish their
activity.
2. Analysis 5 E’s in teaching science

To check if your answers

are correct were going to
have a formal discussion.

*presenting PPT*

Solar system consists of

our stars, the sun and
everything bound to it by
gravity.

Do you know what is the

smallest planet in the solar
system? Yes ma’am, mercury is
the smallest planet.
Now, look at this picture.

This planet is called

Mercury. It is the smallest
planet in the solar system
and closest to the Sun?
Next, what planet is the
second planet from the
Sun?
Venus Ma’am.
Very good. This is Venus,
the second planet from the
sun. it is the hottest planet
in the solar system

Now class what is the only

planet that can support
life?
Earth is the only planet
that can support life
ma’am.

Earth is the only planet in

our solar system with
liquid water on the
surface.

Now let’s go to the fourth

planet from the sun. it is?

Mars.

Yes, Mars is the fourth

planet in the solar system.
It is a dusty, cold, desert
world with a very thin
atmosphere.

Okay, class let’s proceed

to the next slide.so as you
can see on the picture
What planet is this?

It is the planet Jupiter.

Jupiter is the largest planet

in our solar system at
nearly 11 times that of the
Earth's and most massive
planet in the solar system
and the fifth in distance
from the Sun.

Next planet in our solar

system is Saturn, what can
you say about the planet
Saturn?

Saturn have visible rings.

Saturn, is the sixth planet

from the sun and the
second largest planet in
the solar system, after
Jupiter. It is a gas with an
average radius of about
nine a half.

What planet is an ice giant

planet?

Uranus.

Very good! As you can see

on the picture Uranus is
called the ice giant planet
and nearly four times
larger than Earth, it is the
seventh planet in distance
from the Sun and the least
massive of the solar
system’s four giant.

What is the last planet on

the solar system?

Ma’am.Neptune.

Neptune is the last planet

in our solar system. It’s
more than 30 times as far
from the Sun and Earth is.
It is also very similar to
Uranus.

Now let’s talk about sun.

What can you say about
the sun?

The sun gives us heat and

light.

Yes, indeed!
The Sun is the star at the
center of the Solar System.
It is a nearly perfect ball of
hot plasma, heated to
incandescence by nuclear
fusion reactions in its core.
The Sun radiates this
energy mainly as light,
ultraviolet, and infrared
radiation, and is the most
important source of energy
for life on Earth.

Now that we know about

the planets in our solar
system, let’s go back in
our activity earlier.
Do you think your answers
are correct?

(check the activities

together with the students) Yes ma’am/No ma’am.

So, now class do you have

questions about our topic (check their work)
today

No, ma’am.
3. Abstraction Inquiry based approach

To make sure you

understand the lesson I
will ask you some
questions.

Okay class, again how

many planets do we have
in our solar system? 8 Planets Ma’am.

Correct, can you name the

8 planets?
Mercury, Venus, Earth,
Mars, Jupiter, Saturn,
Uranus, Neptune.
Correct, so what can you
say about Mercury?
It is the smallest planet in
the solar system ma’am.
What can you say about
the other planets?
Jupiter is the largest
planet and Saturn is the
second largest planet.
While Uranus is called
the ice giant planet.
Neptune is the last planet
in our solar system.
Very good! It seems that
you already know some
key characteristics of the
planets in our solar
system.

4. Valuing 5 E’s in teaching science

The Solar System provides
the only known example
of a habitable planet, the
only star we can observe
close-up, and the only
worlds we can visit with
space probes.The sun and
all the planet in our solar
system have a role or job.
Whithout them, things
would not only be
different for us but for the
other planets too!
5. Application 5 E’s in teaching science
We will have a quick
activity. Ok ma’am

Direction: Identify the

members of the solar
system being describe,
write the correct answer
on your paper.

1.It is known as the red

planet. Mars.

2.It is the only planet

where life is known to Earth.
exist.
Mercury.
3.It is the smallest planet
in the solar system.
Sun.
4.It is a huge ball of very
hot gasses. It is the center
of the solar system.
5.It is is the largest planet Jupiter.
in our solar system at
nearly 11 times that of the
Earth's and most massive
planet in the solar system
and the fifth in distance
from the Sun.
