Performance Assessment Matrix

I. Subject: PRE–CALCULUS
II. Grade Level: 11
III. Title: Miniature “Build, Build Project”
IV. Performance Task: #1
V. Specific Objectives:
The goal of this project is to create a miniature showing the different types of
conic sections and its properties in relation to the miniature that they are planning
to build.

VI. Rationale:
The students are tasked to show and explain the four types of conic sections
through a miniature that they are going to build. The miniature should be any of
the known or famous structures can be found around the world. The output should
be only limited to a size of 3x3x3.5 ft. (lwh).

VII. Procedure:
How will your project look like? Here are some guidelines in constructing your
miniature:
1. It should have a base not exceeding to a size of 36x36 inches.
2. The maximum height allowed for each miniature is 3.5 ft.
3. A minimum of 2 different structures are required
4. Additional designs like attractive lightings are allowed but make sure that the
whole miniature is still durable and safe from any electrical shocks that may
occur.
5. Each students will be evaluated by their respective group leader according to
their participation/contribution.

VIII. Target Date:

September 25-30, 2023

IX. Materials Needed:

Use recyclable materials in constructing your miniature but not neglecting the
creativity of constructing your model. Students may use some additional materials
for electrical purposes which may cost some amount to spend.

Materials to be used and estimated price:
1. Illustration board or wood for base – 60 pesos
2. Bulbs/lights, plug and electrical wirings (if applicable)– 200 pesos
3. Materials for design (paint, coloring materials, papers, etc.) – 200 pesos
4. Transportation – 40 pesos
Estimated total cost: 500 pesos
Note: Students will be grouped into two per section to minimize the contribution for
expected expenses.
