Welcome to the English Grade 1 Self Learning Module on Predicting Possible


Ending of a Story Read!

This Self Learning Module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by
educators from Schools Division Office of Pasig City headed by its Officer-In-Charge
Schools Division Superintendent, Ma. Evalou Concepcion A. Agustin in partnership
with the Local Government of Pasig through its mayor, Honorable Victor Ma. Regis
N. Sotto. The writers utilized the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum using the
Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELC) while overcoming their personal,
social, and economic constraints in schooling.

This learning material hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Further, this also aims to help learners
acquire the needed 21st century skills especially the 5 Cs namely: Communication,
Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking and Character while taking into
consideration their needs and circumstances.

depict skill, action and purpose. Through our hands we may learn, create and
accomplish. Hence, the hand in this learning resource signifies that you as a learner
is capable and empowered to successfully achieve the relevant competencies and

RECAP

We’ve learned about how to arrange the events in a


story from first to last that happened in the story. We all
know that events tell what happened in the story. The word
first, next and last tells us the correct order so that we can
easily know the correct sequence of the events in the story.

LESSON

Making predictions is an important reading skill that


shows that you understand the story and it also helps you
to develop your imagination and thinking skills.
Predicting outcomes means thinking what will happen
next. In using the events that happened in the story we can
able to predict what happened next. We may also use
information from our experiences.
Today, let us talk about predicting the possible ending
of the story read. So now let us read some short story and
we will give the possible ending of the story.

Sally and Sue

Summer and Sammy are playing outside after


school. “What a nice day it is,” said Sally. The girls decided
to take a walk to the park. As they got closer to the park,
the sun started to go dim. The wind began to blow and
the sky grew dark.

Fishing is Fun

Jared is fishing with his dad. He loves to fish. Jared

reading skills, using imagination helps you picture out and
understand words when you read so keep on reading
