SCOPE OF WORK

Description: Clear the vegetation to create Fire breaks along perimeter fences (45 KM x 8M

1. INVITATION TO TENDER

You are hereby invited to submit a tender for the creating fire breaks along
Foskor mine perimeter fences. This document describes the Scope of Work for
all required work for the project.

2. SCOPE BACKGROUND

Currently, the mine has a High-Risk area where security perimeter fencing is
infested with vegetation which will contribute to veld fire spread should there be
an outbreak within or beyond our perimeter fencing. This may endanger the lives
of employees, endangers the fauna and flora, and result in property loss within
Foskor Mine.

The vegetation clearance will work as an advantage for the patrolling security
team during their routine patrols. The perimeter fence stretches for about 45 KM.

3. COMPANY BACKGROUND

Foskor is one of the world’s largest producers of phosphate rock (concentrate)


and phosphoric acid. It is one of the world’s few vertically integrated producers
of phosphoric acid and is the second largest supplier to India, the world’s largest
consumer of phosphoric acid.
The Company owns and mines phosphate resources and beneficiates the mined
material to produce a phosphate concentrate at Phalaborwa, in the Limpopo
Province of South Africa. The phosphate concentrate is sold locally and
transported to the Richards Bay plant on the coast of KwaZulu Natal to produce
phosphoric acid, sulphuric acid and granular fertilisers MAP and DAP from
phosphoric acid and is the leading supplier of fertilisers to South Africa. In all

about 95% of the phosphoric acid is exported and the granular sales are divided
between exports and local markets. Since 1951 Foskor has supplied more than
95% of South Africa’s fertiliser requirements.

4. OBJECTIVE(S)

To clear the vegetation at Foskor perimeter fence that stretches for about 45 KM
x 8m to prevent veld fire spread should there be an outbreak within or beyond
our perimeter fencing.

5 SCOPE OF WORK

5.1 Clear the vegetation to create fire breaks along the perimeter fences for 45
km.

a) To provide D9 Dozer to clear the vegetation for Four meters (4m) on both
sides of the perimeter fence. (45 Km x 8 M)
b) The fire break shall be in a form of a gravel road.

6. Requirements.
a) D9 Dozer with fuel (wet) and the driver.
b) The contractor shall be required to complete such task task in 60 days (2 x
Months) period and
c) Shall conduct such duties on Monday to Friday from 07:00 am to 16:00 pm.

Calculation errors discovered during the evaluation process will be logged as a non-conformance
and the tender / quotation will therefore be disregarded.
